Connor is a winger and I really don't think Little would be available. He's extremely underrated and I would not be happy with only getting a return that looks to be a late 1st and a B prospect. Pass.

Edit: also of note, C is our 2nd biggest need behind a top 4 LHD.

Fair enough, who are you guys going to be protecting for the expansion?

Resigning Little should absolutely be one of Chevy's top priorities when the time comes. I can't see a situation in which trading him this early makes sense.

Considering the fact that he's paid like a #2C, I don't see any reason to move on from him.

The only prospect poised to take up that role is Roslovic, and he may still go to junior this year.

He isn't a rental considering his deal runs through to the end of next season.

He also isn't likely to be available at all.

Don't disagree but that could change relatively soon. We have been without him for 30 of the last 31 games and, what .... 8.5 minutes of the 31st? And it shows. He is missed.

We have plenty of candidates/options for bottom 6 C's but Matty P is not the solution for the 2nd line. Petan, DeLeo or Roslovic could be. Roslovic is beginning to look promising.

If he did become available the price would be a lot higher than the OP's suggestion. He would bring at least that at the trade deadline next season as a rental. He is still a 1/2C. He would have to come back from injury and play well for a time to re-establish his value I think.

Jets will clearly try to negotiate a long term deal with him starting next summer.

He'll be (essentially) 30 by the time any new deal would start in the summer of 2018, so maybe that will make things tough with the Jets.

But the truth is, they need him now, and with the way centers tend to develop, they'll likely still need him in 2018.

It really depends what kind of contract he is willing to take. If he's willing to take 4 years, I could see him staying. If he needs to push hard for 6 or more, he'll almost certainly be gone.
