I 1000% agree. I like we've played with balls and defensive competence at least finally.

But I suspect Quinn has stifled the offense to a degree that a good and experienced coach wouldn't have. I also dislike many of the moves we made and think the team identity is damaged as a result.
Right, I agree with that assessment, but I don't agree the team is damaged. It's a small part of one season.

The structure they're playing with is significant progress.

I don’t think experience is going to make any of these players some of the best, especially not Kakko.

The Rangers need to deal some of their wingers. The only two guys that are off the table are Panarin and LaFreniere.
Especially not Kakko? He's been their best winger this year game in game out. Panarin has numbers but Panarin has cost us goals too with sloppy play. Not the time to be getting on Kakko.

“Not Quinn’s fault.”
What about him moving Buchnevich off the top line and out of the top six to accommodate Blackwell? Buch has 8 friggin points. This coach literally is a pineapple head. Guy has skill, competes, battles, has rounded out his 200 foot game, fights tonight, gets demoted. What a clown behind the bench. Good message to send moron.

The guy at the top of the Umbrella is not the problem. If the wingers aren't shooting threats than the slot never open for a pass and down low plays are non existant. The PP is stuck on the outside. No same passes will ever get through. The only thing they have is 40 ft wrister with a prayer attached to it. Until they commit to either Laf or Kaako as the triggerman than the PP lives and dies on Zibanajed finding his mojo again. If he can't put his 1ter on the net than Kreider doesn't get tips (although he hasn't done much in this facet either). Once ziba is a threat teams start cheating and opening up other lanes. Until than, a super tight diamond and teams will just dare you to shoot.

This game felt worse than 1-0, last game it felt like we went toe to toe with them. This game we kind of looked helpless after that first period. We looked outclassed. That said we didn't get dominated or anything.

Is it me or is nearly every shot on the power play now a fadeaway shot? Remember when players actually stepped into a shot?

Exactly

I love Fox, he's the Team MVP so far this year, but the PP is 1/18 out of the last 19. Let's wait on calling him solid back there.

Movement from the blueline isn't the issue(when they can penetrate the zone). It's the absence of a shooting threat from either the half walls.

Fox is great at retaining and moving the puck, but he doesn't have a booming shot(which is fine).

But, nobody is s scoring threat which allows teams to collapse the slot.

What I am saying is that it isn't a QB issue, it's a shooting threat one...

a reaction probably to getting everything blocked when they take an age to bear down on a wrister. the team has literally zero players who just snap a shot in rhythm

How much is the upcoming contract weighing on Mika?

is that a thing?

And let me tell you. You’d be nuts to resign Buchnevich. I know we won’t but I hope it’s not even entertained. We’ve got a mini fire sale impending with Strome Buchnevich DeAngelo moving soon

Buchnevich isn't the problem. If there were halfway capable centers on the team, he would be a solid 50+ point winger. He also plays harder than the vast majority of the team.

He isnt old either. Trading Buchnevich for the sake of trading him will only make the team worse.

We have already had fire sales where we got rid of good players [McDonagh, JT Miller, Stepan] and got garbage in return. Tony DeAngelo was the best piece we got in any recent trade, but he was dropped from the team.

Stop the fire sales, please. Focus on building with the deep prospect pool and retain the talent you have.
