Speculation: Bruins Going College Route ?

I think your onto something there, like fans, wouldn`t be shocked if a GM or more specifically the scouts, fall in love with a player too soon and this potentially plays an impact on their assessment.

Personally, I like the college kids, arrive young men as opposed to boys but that doesn`t always mean they have the game to immediately step in but typically their physical and mental maturity is more developed.

I find the CHL players are more use to travel and playing more games helps too.

Yeah, but there are trade offs to that. Junior players don't get the practice time and the time in the weight room that the college players get to work on their skills and strength. Its been brought up before. Sure it may take a college player a season to get used to the 82 game schedule but that is just a short term issue.

Something to be said for letting 18-year olds like Grzyzlck and O'Gara and Bjork marinate for three or four years before signing them.

Chicago has been going this route for years. By the time they sign their ELC, they're 22 or 23 years old and have a lot more seasoning than a 20-year-old out of junior who's an RFA by the time they hit 23.
