For all the talk about how dominant canada is, this whole tournament, they got carried by Crosby and the Bruins players......WHERE WAS THE DOMINANCE?? The defense lacked creativity and were slow.

Needed more Letang. Their defense couldn't carry/pass the puck up the ice.

Pretty sure Doughty had a big role. As did Burns, Weber and Pietrangelo. Defense is always overlooked.
 
Weber and Bouwmeester were slow with decision making, especially the latter. He was a disaster. Burns was playing like an idiot. Vlasic, Doughty and Pietrangelo (mostly) were awesome. We clearly missed Keith in this tournament.

Are you seriously being a critic when we just swept a team that played better than us in two straight games? We have one line that beat the world. Isn't that kind of the point that we are a lot better than the rest of the world?
 
They didn't lose a game. If that isn't dominance then what is?
 
That line was siiiiiiick. Doughty was amazing too. Clearly the best player in the world.

They went undefeated and won every game in regulation, how much more dominance do you want? They were never going to win every game 6-0 lol

From what I watched of the final games, I too thought they'd have greatly benefited from having Letang. But I'm probably biased as a Pens fan.
 
Doughty was awful tonight. Just terrible.

I didn't like Pietrangelo all tournament. Not sure why this guy gets a free pass to Team Canada with the other guys that get stiffed.

Nice to see Crosby find some linemates he clicks with and not have to drag a guy like Kunitz with him.

Europe was a weak team and somehow still made the final and made it close.
 
The Toews line was a possession powerhouse, shutting down the oppositions top line despite being buried in Dzone starts every game. They were fantastic.
 
I only watched the first Canada vs. Europe finals game, but Pietrangelo was a mess - numerous d zone giveaways.

lol Sweden is boring and already got beat by Canada in a boring final in 2014. Europe today played better than Sweden at the Olympic finals.
 
Crosby, Bergeron, Marchand, Price, and Toews carried the team. The defense did what they had to do and all played well, although Bouwmeester had a few too many brain-dead moments to be on a TC.

Rest of the forwards were average. A lot of these players need icetime to get into the groove. Funny enough, I think both Marchand and Bergeron could've been players that would've done well with lesser ice time, but they both were among the best of players of the tournaments so that would've made little sense.

5 of the last 6 Championships in best on best Mens hockey (2002 Olympics, 2004 World Cup, 2010 Olympics, 2014 Olympics, 2016 World Cup*). Add in a 19-1 record at the previous two IIHF WHCs en route to consecutive Gold Medals in 2015 and 2016. What a run we are on!

Crosby is 25-0 in his last 25 games wearing the Canadian sweater.

Nothing else to say really. Those victories are a team effort from this Golden Era.

That should have been Team Canada's D.

The guys you named did indeed carry team Canada. Because Canada decided to handicap themselves with Bouwmeester, Pietrangelo (on his off-wing at that), and Weber to make it interesting.
