Bruce Cassidy's visit to Milton -- with the most famous trophy in all of sports in tow -- will shine a spotlight on the launch of this foundation.

"Julie and I marvel at Linda and Dave's commitment to helping others despite a crushing grief that few of us can even imagine," Bruce Cassidy said. "Cassidy Murray would have been with our family celebrating this summer had life not taken such a cruel and terrible twist. We cannot think of a better way to honor this beautiful girl and her parents' noble commitment to others than by coming to Boston to bring attention to the foundation in her name."

Cassidy will be making his trip to Milton on Thursday, July 13.

I don't know what the problem with his coaching is - he just won a Stanley Cup with a journeyman goalie who was essentially their fifth string. He's a cerebral coach, and an excellent tactician. He demands a lot from his players, which rubs some players the wrong way. But it's a results-driven league, and he earned the ultimate result.

It's clear off the ice Bruce is family-first. His daughter Shannon losing her best friend had to be traumatic beyond description; which was surely difficult for her father, Bruce, especially with all the time consumption and stress of the NHL.

So this is a wonderful, healing gesture from Bruce Cassidy. Sometimes good things happen to good people, even amidst tragedy. Way to go, Bruce.

Well said and spot on.

Somewhere, I have a picture of me and my friend next to the cup when the Kings win it. Lombardi brought here.

0%! Dude is not like that. Plus, he’d come off as a douche. He is a good person who’s time ran out. We can still like him here. Plus he’s a B’s fan.

Seems like he proved this year his coaching is just fine.

Look at his team. I think he also learned to ease up. He was riding Eichel for a hot minute and stopped.

Fact is. He is partly responsible for the 2019 loss. His decisions were atrocious and factor into the loss.

He's a good guy. His time was up. Just like Clode. Every coach has an expiration date. He helped his team win a cup. He couldn't do that here. It is what it is. He's a champion. Good on here. But I'm not sad he's gone.

But I don't think this thread is the appropriate one to discuss him being not being our coach anymore, as this is him honoring a young girl who tragically passed away.

You can respond with a laugh, that's fine. Opinions are like buttholes, everyone has one. :)

So sad and tragic. Very classy of Bruce to do this.
