He’s right our top guys aren’t young. Up 2-0 in game three on the road in a series you’re winning 2-0 it was right there and the top guys stopped going. Even Fox he was awful after the first two games

And Igor was brilliant he was but too many softees and late goals. He never outright stole a game. Sometimes u need to win 1-0 come playoff time.

Panarin makes me really nervous he’s looked like shit for months.

Kakko can’t produce. He’s still a middle 6 wing but that’s a problem.

I mean yeah, I would hope that Kreider and Zibanejad, 2 of our best players and leaders on our team at around 30 years old, would be upset after being eliminated. I don’t expect them to say “oh you know we have a bunch of good prospects.”

That being said, the team faced a proven winner and hopefully learned how to shut down a game. I expect them to take those lessons into the subsequent playoff years.

There’s no guarantees you’re back especially in a Cap world but we have the foundation. Zibanejad. Panarin. Fox. Shesterkin. Include Kreider if you want. That’s a legitimate core of players that is good enough to win the Cup. The secondary pieces won’t all be priced out and they will build around them like other teams do, by identifying reclamation projects and bringing in youth.

Give me a break. After overachieving, I’m supposed to sit here and think this is the only shot they’ll ever get. I just don’t buy it. They should feel that way, but when you objectively analyze the roster, it’s unlikely. They’ll be a force for years, particularly if you can lock up Miller and Lafreniere to long term deals at a reasonable rate, like 4.5 x 6. We’ll see what happens.

Summer 2024 is where you look for a transfer of power. Those four guys should be able to maintain their levels for another two seasons. They aren't Crosby-Malkin 35+, they're just all right around 30. That's not an age where we should be panicking.

Again NYR lose in round 1 in 7 games and we all view this season as a pretty solid stepping stone. We just got thirsty early thanks to the breaks.

But in all seriousness it is a fair article. The Rangers core isn't all that young outside of Shesterkin, Miller, Fox, and Lafreniere. I see people comparing us to Tampa in 2015 or whatever, their core was still young, in their mid 20s at the oldest so I don't think they are a great model for the Rangers in those terms.

Completely agree. I believe Summer 2024 is when the proverbial "changing of the guard" takes place and the keys are truly given to Lafreniere, Miller, and Fox. Zibanejad will still be around, but I'm less sold that Kreider, Trouba, and Panarin will be. At least two of those three are gone by July 1, 2024, I think, if not at least one of them sooner. Auston Matthews, Sebastian Aho, Elias Lindholm, and last but not least, Nate MacKinnon going to be a free agents then...
