Brooks claimed by Jets

I noticed Winterpeg placed a Dubas fav Riley Nash on waivers.
Might be good timing for us to grab him.

We are -2 centres @ the marlies,and short term - Spezza I assume.

I don't agree with that, really.

I think Kyle Dubas is doing a terrific job, and at the same time I'm probably Adam Brooks number one fan.

That said, I don't think either of Brooks or Michael Amadio would still be on the Leafs' roster at this point in the season no matter what. The whole controversy is really about nothing at all.

I am happy for Brooks that he is collecting an NHL salary with Vegas – or with any other NHL team. It's a lot better for him that he's on an NHL roster instead of clearing waivers and being sent to the Marlies. I like him, and I'm glad he's getting a cup of coffee, one way or the other.

Hey I like Brooks too and wanted to keep him.

but like you said, he and Amadio were always going to be hitting waivers this year, and the crying was way over the top and really just dubas-hating.
 
I think that for either Brooks or Amadio to have made the Leafs' roster, it would have had to been as the fourth-line centre.

Frankly, I had not expected that Jason Spezza would fill that role so perfectly this year. However, now that we see what Spezza brings there is no way on God's green Earth that either of them could possibly compete with what Spezza has been doing.

I think there are better choices for fourth-line wingers, and when everyone is healthy there's no place for either of them on the roster – especially with less than 23 players.

Too bad, but it would have been nice to keep one or the other, or both.

I just really don't appreciate people trying to turn this into a Kyle Dubas issue.

I've had enough of the Lou/Kyle controversy for several lifetimes.

I would rather, Zeke, that you leave that issue alone. We don't need Dubas attackers or defenders anymore.

Right...I never said anyone shouldn't talk about anything. I made a pretty simple statement. I think and do think the talk about Brooks being waived was ridiculous. Instead of anyone arguing my point people are getting their backs up saying I am "whining about whining" or something about thought police even.

I don't believe anything was directed at you but I could be mistaken.
I don't agree about the topic being ridiculous on its own though. It's really no different than anything else discussed here.

Really curious to see what Brooks goal totals would be if you let him play a full season on your 4th line @ 10 minutes per game. I see him as a sleeper for 15 goals.

In that 7 game sample he had 2 goals. Can't see why he couldn't have matched the 4 in 11 he had here. Then build from there. Low samples but he had really good IQ and knew how to follow the puck around.

A team like Nashville should take a chance on Brooks. Their bottom 6 is full of energy players to isolate him with.

Let's be honest... Seattle will take him. And that is only because Montreal already had a go with him.

He averaged 20gls per 82gms in the AHL.

Unless I'm mistaken he's going to be Group 6 UFA this summer, could see a return if we like him in a depth role and are will to toss out 1 way money
