Adding Brooks and Clifford to the Marlies should make them that much stronger up front.

This should go down as one of the biggest over-reactions to losing a player in recent history. I couldn't believe how nuts some of our fanbase went over a dime a dozen player. Hope they bring him back. If not...meh
Think the feeling was they kept a nickel a dozen player instead of the good soldier that had been in the organization since drafted.
End of the day it wasn't a huge deal.

So if we claim him back, then put him BACK on waivers so we can get him on the Marlies, then someone claims him AGAIN, does the same waiver rigamarole (we get first dibs before 30 days) apply? What a cluster! If no one claims him, I say we do the same thing we did with Clifford. Offer the Habs a bag of pucks future considerations and get him back. He was a good solidier for 5 years and has proven he can be a reliable injury fill-in.

I don't see how the Leafs can take him. When Mrazek & Mikheyev return, the Leafs will be back into cap issues. Why should Montreal trade him for nothing when he's depth for them (though maybe deadline fodder)?
Very different situation than Clifford.
I didn't mind Brooks and wouldn't mind him for depth/4th line but I don't see how it can happen.

I wanna say yes...but i think Martin Skoula will always take the cake...because it was just pure hilarity and it still lives on till this day.

He's a good Marlie, he doesn't seem to mind being a 13th or 14th forward and he's been with the organization for over half a decade

Why wouldn't we want to have him back?

On the Marlies as depth? Sure.

But waiving actual nhlers for him? Nah.

Brooks always seemed to produce when he was in the lineup. Could provide some scoring from the bottom 6. Has scored at a 36 pt pace in the lineup for the leafs. Could be more in say a 3rd line scoring role.

Bunting Matthews Nylander
Kerfoot Tavares Marner
Kase Brooks Spezza
Engvall/Ritchie Kampf Simmonds

Well we just claimed a guy that's boarder line NHL level today already

At least with Brooks we know he works well with Spezza and he can play center so Spezza ends up on the wing

Not to mention he also looked very good in his limited time with the big club.

It's because of the optics at the time. Brooks did everything that could be expected and more in his limited opportunities as a call up, and Dubas opted to keep Amadio instead.

He'd be depth until the Leafs get completely healthy.

That being said, the Leafs have a cap problem even if they get fully healthy without Brooks. If they view Engvall as the guy out to make that happen, Brooks is theoretically not a bad replacement at $500k less.

we can't send Brooks directly to the Marlies even if we are the only ones to claim because he spent more than 30 days on the Habs roster.

Leafs would need to waive him again (as Leafs property) to send him to the AHL.
Incorrect.
The 30-day period applies when a player is recalled from the minors. Brooks has not been in the minors this season.
As stated in previous posts, if the Leafs are the only team to put in a claim they can (and they will) send him directly to the minors.
