I wonder which posters are brave enough to admit that they thought Amadio was much older than Brooks when they were first upset by this news.

I'll be honest, I had no idea he was at 173 NHL games. That blew my mind a little.

Brooks should have never been waived end of story.

He didn’t make the team, nor did Amadio, when Matthews is back, and he’s not waiver exempt. He’s not the kind of guy a team is going to trade for with all the comparable players that are passing through waivers to start the season. What exactly was the alternative supposed to be?

I’ll readily admit I didn’t know much about Amadio at all. I assumed he was older and that he had little to no NHL experience. He was also much better in camp than I expected. When we signed him in the off-season I regarded it as a pure AHL move. And if we are being honest that’s where he’s most likely headed once we get healthy, but I didn’t picture him as a guy who would play games for the big club

IMO if they could have waited until the teams set their rosters, there was a greater chance Brooks is not claimed. Could be the case if and when Amadio is waived.

Perhaps, hard to say. Montreal’s need for centers wasn’t really going away.

They couldn't. They had to set their roster yesterday and the day before was the last day to waive a player so that they could submit their official starting roster.

That's why the entire league had 50+ players on waivers.

I still think it is good for Brooks, and while he wasn't good enough in Toronto, at least he's getting a promotion.

Quite the juxtaposition on Toronto's forum vs Habs, there is no Brooks thread on their first page and we have a 260 post thread second from the top ... ;) possible we are over valuing this guy? (Habbers don't care about this guy)

unless your chris johnston are you really following the 4th liners on all 32 teams ?
go look at the kings lineup this season , you probably havnt heard of half those guys before

it's a bit embarassing claiming guys on waivers from teams you tell everyone you're way deeper than.

If you're an OHL prospect guy he's probably been quietly on your radar. Had a beastly final season in the O putting the Battalion on his back and was an (IIRC) controversial omission from the Marner WJC team that disapointed.

I mainly followed him cause his older brother played for my school's OUA team

Your honesty, while rare for these parts, is refreshing.
It's amazing how some have such intimate knowledge of the player.

I mean I knew who he was. I dont have a scouting report on everyone or have insight on their overall play but I understood he played in the NHL. Being close to 200 NHL games is very surprising because typically those kind of players get RFA qualified when they are 24-25 years old.

Some of us do take an in depth look at players we sign, tho.

Seems like most didn't bother taking even a superficial glance at Amadio.

Work smart not hard. Two lottery teams passed. Borrow their work.

I'm just kidding obviously but I mean I don't find it appropriate condemning people just because they didn't want to look up a 4th liner who will more or less be irrelevant to the team lol.

If he turns heads like 4 goals in 11 games then we'll tune in :sarcasm:

True dat. In every position except for LW this team is stronger from top to bottom of the lineup. We got guys on our 3rd line that could play on their first line. Habby fans like to troll and press buttons. They know their team sux.

Weber is reported to have a career ending injury. Price is injured so often you cant call him a 1A starter anymore. They are simply a poorly constructed team that has missed on draft picks they kept and hit on draft picks they should have never traded away.

I find it more meaningful to watch a player then to read about them. Most do.

Our forum loves to over value our waiver-level tweener players the second they are claimed lol.

I don't know, I know most players in the league, plus prospects and some AHL guys but I'm no expert. If you play fantasy and watch enough hockey you get to know the players.

not condemning anyone for not knowing anything about Amadio.

just pointing out that maybe they should calm down about being angry about having amadio instead of brooks it they, you know, don't know a thing about Amadio.

Watching these two this preseason should only have led people to prefer Amadio. He was legit excellent all preseason, and had 3pts in 4gms to go along with the best xgf%, cf%, sf%, scf% (literally all of them) on the team.

How was he deployed? top minutes, bottom minutes, sheltered, elite oppo? trying to understand context to your comments
