I understand Murphy is currently injured... but assuming we get to the deadline and Buffalo is looking for someone to get Franson out of the top-6, what would it take for either guy?

Would a 3rd or a prospect like Eric Cornel do anything?

For Pesce, I have no idea. Would someone like Foligno or Larsson or Girgensons work? Or a combo of prospects (Ullmark, Cornel, 2nd/Carrier)

I'd be fine with Murphy for a 3rd and half-decent prospect...

None of the mentioned really get the conversation going for Pesce.. Girgs would be alright but there isn't a need for him.

Fair enough. I'd do that for Murphy. He'd give Buffalo a solid, young, puck-moving 7th defenseman at worst.

For Pesce I totally undetstand, and really, Buffalo isn't in a position to trade roster forwards either.

As I stated though, as a Sabres fan, I'd do the Murphy deal. Takes Franson out of the daily roster and allows Nelson to develop in the AHL.

Pesce is a 6'3, mobile, all-situations top-4 RD at 21 years old (also expansion exempt). His value to the Canes is considerably higher than what you suggest. I'd wager it is far higher than what you would even consider an overpayment.

Ryan Murphy will get a legit shot to stick. Dahlbeck and Nakladal have been bad at 3rd pairing RD. Hopefully Murphy can play better. No interest in moving him for futures.

Had no idea Pesce was Expansion exempt. Didn't realize that. Definitely increases his value for sure, let alone being a top-4 defenseman in his own right.
