Pionk was a darling around here last year with that small sample size with people saying he could be a very good 2nd pairing NHL defenseman. I foresaw this folly and began calling called him Stionk. I took some heat for it but in the end I was right. Now with Tony DeangeNO mania is running wild and posters are proposing 8 year deals they will be wrong again. I'm not even sure Tony DeangeNO is MDZ lite at this point. Posters constantly champion these sub par to average players on a very porous Rangers team.

But now that I actually like this Brendan Lemieux acquisition people can't deal with the fact I am right the majority of the time so they are gonna come with the unfunny . I'm not the only one right their are thousands of a astute Ranger fans who have been dealing with this "fanboy" mentality in overrating our young players. I've seen this hysteria with the losing of Cam Talbot, Anthony Duclair, Oscar Lindberg , Raanta.

The constant conspiracy theories of why there faves don't get minutes. The coach doesn't like them excuses. it's almost comical. I don't mind taking heat for being outspoken and dubbing these players with nicknames because the " I told you so's" in the end bring me so much glee.

With that said. I like the Brendan Lemieux acquisition .

So....first, Tony D. has a much higher upside the Pionk does, so that is why we are expecting more. Every team that had him said his skill level was never an issue. If we can get what's between his ears under control he will for sure be a top 4 offensive D man with a great passing ability.

Second, we are not questioning whether you are right or wrong. We are asking why you seem to think you need to attach childish names to players for no apparent reason other then it makes you giggle inside.

Third, it seems you are only here trying to pimp some show you claim to have been doing for 10 plus years. Is that on MSG? Sat radio? The Fan??? Or are you just another guy in a basement making a podcast that has no more credibility then any other fan on here?

Thanks, we all have opinions. Keep the name calling to the playground, would you? I also like this pickup, kid will hopefully be a good third liner for a long time.

Dylan's actually gotten better at fighting---at least in part because he's physically matured and he's gotten over his clumsiness. Every time this season his AHL team plays against the team that has Brett Gallant those two hook up and have a doozy of a fight and Gallant is a real crap player but he (and his brother Alex too) is about as tough as it comes. IMO McIlrath is a lot more ready to take on Ryan Reaves than he was a few years ago and I wouldn't be surprised to see Dylan get another NHL shot or two to play that Dalton Prout kind of role for some team that thinks it's missing that element.
The Gallant boys LOVE to fight...they eat , drink & sleep fight ....and it is in their blood as their Dad Pinky , was one of the toughest ever to play in Atlantic Canada in Tier Two Junior and Senior hockey and all the time playing with no shoulder pads . PEI is a long way from the NHL and the fastest way to get to at least the AHL is via your fists . Too bad it was not 10 years ago though for them....all for not now .

I, for one, applaud anyone willing devote time and resources to doing podcasts devoted to our team. God knows you never hear any hockey talk of substance on local NY radio.

This is really a great time to be a fan because of the content out there. I enjoy many of Rangers podcasts: Blueshirt Underground, Blueshirts Breakaway, Bantering the Blueshirts, Bleeding Blueshirts with Giannone and Maloney.

Mike, I am glad someone is enjoying them. I find a lot of them hard to listen to, as really they are no different then sitting in a bar arguing with other fans about the team we love. I would go so far as to say most of them have no real credible sources, and I get much more relevant issue listening to NHL channel on Sirius/XM every day. All that being said, I don't mind the guys on Blueshirt Banter, but even them I have to shut it off on some of the episodes. Basically, I think the podcasts are the lowest line of info, if you have nothing else, and you are dying to hear Ranger talk, then they are great. Normally I only listen in the dead of summer when the NHL channel on the sat is replaying SCF games over and over.

Again, all that being said, if you like listening to them, great. All of the above is just my opinion and is worth no more then anything stated on those podcasts themselves.

Well 48 is his dad's number (22) multiplied by 2 and then adding 4 more.

22 * 2 = 44 + 4 = 48

So using the digits in the number at each step.

22*2 and then 44 + 4.

It's totally this math reason and not just some weird number Winnipeg gave him in camp that he decided to keep.

What a fail that you didn't do

22*2 + (2+2) = 48

He had the lowest upside of any of Winnipeg's top 10 or so prospects, so naturally, Gorton accepts him in the trade. What a shock.

Take away his draft position from four or five years ago, and he'd be just another grinder. I keep track of all rookie iCF/iSCF/iHDSCF and Lemieux ranked near the bottom of the 140+ rookies for three months until Appleton showed up. Now he's somewhere in the 100s.

He's a decent player at best. Definitely serviceable. But what I want to knows is, what were Rangers pro scouts seeing? His two-week hot streak? In all seriousness, I'd love to know who within the organization championed the requirement to add Lemieux over a draft pick -- any draft pick, once Chevy balked at the trading the top prospects within his organization

I watch a lot of the Jets because I love Dennis Beyak, and never once did I comes away impressed with Lemieux outside of him "jam" while on a contender's fourth line.

I have as much faith in Gorton in trades as I have with Clark and the draft. He either loses them or gets the expected return. I get that he's still young in GM years and earned his way up, but I fully believe that the Sather-Gorton-Clark troika will never get this team past mediocrity unless a HOF goalie in his prime is backstopping them.
