Hey I get it, there hasn't been a lot of spirited chirping on a lot of those milktoast AV led teams, but I hope you guys don't let one night of a brutal chirp get at you like it is. There will be others, may they be worse.

This is a core that needs some emotional drivers out there, and I think having guys like Brandon, ADA and Lias will help.

It just has to be directed well. Lias was playing with less than half a pair on him earlier in the year. Having guys across the line up will help with that.

The type of thing Lemieux brings is seriously contagious.

Fast is a stiff player and he's hit to get the puck many times, but I've never seen him hit just to hit somebody like he did to Wilson on Sunday.

Granted, I've always been against hitting for the sake of hitting, but I guess that depends on how effective you are. Being physical an going -40 doesn't do anything for me.

Fast is an effective player though.

This is one thing about Tom Wilson that bothers me. Why hit an unsuspecting guy in the head? In many of these cases a play on the puck would be much wiser. (Not talking about the late hits, which are just wrong and illegal).

Whether they admit it or not, sometimes people just like to hurt other people. Some people have anger issues, narcissism, and/or other issues.

Because what is the typical punishment? The offending player usually sits for a 1-4 games and that's it. Intentional or not. They lose some money of the multiple millions they get per year. There's no actual, meaningful punitive action for extremely dangerous non-hockey plays/actions that often result in TBIs that affect the person on the receiving end for the rest of their lives. I understand that in contact sports it's the risk one takes, but then you have neanderthals like Cooke or Wilson whose main goal is to do bodily harm; they just so happen to be hockey players and use that as a thin veil to say they are "tough guys". There's usually very little to no differentiation in suspension lengths between those repeat offenders and a guy like Hagelin when he got suspended. Granted Wilson did end up with a 20-game suspension after about 25 incidents.

The NHL is notoriously awful with this stuff. Have been for decades.

Having worked with and around many in the league, the only thing that might change something is if someone dies on the ice.

Over the years we’ve seen players concussed, driven head first into the ice, fingers chopped off, etc.

At this point I am sadly convinced that it would take someone getting killed, and only after a subsequent lawsuit and PR nightmare.

Wilson would knock Lemieux into next week. Wilson is way too big for him.
Wilson is taller, but Lemieux actually weighs more. All it took was Rocky to get inside on Drago and stay away from his jab. You know, from real life examples.....

If I can change, and you can change, and Lemieux can change... maybe the Rangers can change.

So we need to have Lemieux chase chickens in the catacombs of MSG.

Weird, when I read that I pictured Bobby Granger yelling at him to eat lightning and crap thunder. In some alternate universe that has or is going to happen.

Sure. Just need to keep it quiet. In today's day and age, someone may report it as being insensitive to chickens and then reparations would need to be made.
