You know how I’d do it. You can negotiate with RFAs. So I go to ‘player A’ and say we want you, we’d rather work out a trade for you with your team rather than offersheet you. I am going to tell your teams GM this, if he doesn’t want to work with me, you let him know you are gonna sign an offer sheet with a team if a deal doesn’t get done, then see if the GM comes back to me wanting to strike a deal rather than match the offer, or take future draft picks (as opposed to my current ones), or gut other parts of his roster to be able to match.
