What would his value be? Solid, cheap defensive option that by moving him would allow the Kings to play Kevin Gravel or Derek Forbort.

Wasnt he just re signed? I dont really think moving him is a go, gravel or forbort need to take his spot before entertaining the idea of moving him.

Given that you feel he's solid and cheap, I don't see the Kings trading him away unless he is made expendable.

And since the Kings won't be getting Voynov back, seems to me they want to keep as many solid defenders as they can.

If the Kings were to move him, I'd think it would be for a right handed option who can play top 4 minutes. In essence, it would be McNabb+ for an upgrade.

Now in a dream scenario, I bet Dean Lombardi would love to target Trouba as his Voynov replacement, but I'm not sure if that is feasible due to a number of factors, one being how much Trouba wants and the second beyond the cost to acquire him.

In retrospect I wonder what kings fans think of the sabres trade to this day. I loved McNabb but also am fine with fasching and deslauriers too. I suppose the value of those 2nd rounders makes or breaks it. Seems like one of those win win trades that involve only depth players.

We needed McNabb, so what are you gonna do? We didn't have anyone ready to step in. Not happy to lost Fasching but we needed someone at his stage of development.

Of course, the Kings are strong at producing defensemen so we knew we would have a glut of defensive prospects again before too long. Forbort, Gravel, LaDue, Cernak...I'm excited about the future.

Fasching was my favorite prospect at the time, so the trade still hurts in a way. But the Kings did get the two 2nd rounders which were used to acquire Gaborik, which was an essential piece for the 2014 cup. I'll take that any day.

Why would the Kings move him? I'd be happy to take him on the Sharks. He'd be a great fit on the bottom pairing long term.

No, wrong trade.

The Kings used those two 2nd rounders that came with McNabb on Lintuniemi and Cernak.

The picks for Gaborik came from the Scrivens deal.

But back to the point - this was probably a win/win trade. If Fasching turns out to be a top player it will probably swing back to Buffalo's side, but for now, both teams got key pieces in this deal, especially if you look at it from one step backwards:

LA sends Fasching and Deslauries to Buffalo for McNabb and Regehr

Kings get a piece that heped win a cup and a good 5/6 D-man who can play for years. Buffalo gets a quality 4th liner and a winger who still has star potential.

Honestly only way I think the Kings move him is for an upgrade. Like in a package for Trouba. Even then part of me thinks the Kings would rather move Martinez instead.

McNabb is a great young hockey player. Forbot is terrible and if the Kings move McNabb to make remove for Forbot, Deano would be lynched.

4 Years from now McNabb will be a solid top4 and Forbot will be luck to be playing in the AHL.

Forbort has been nothing but solid. And no sane Kings fan would expect the Kings to move McNabb to make room for Forbort.
