its no secret the Habs are struggling right now and it looks like Gallagher is going to be out for a little bit..

this Team has proven that as long as they get to the playoffs,, they can make some noise.. Carey Price will be back and this team will be much better than it is showing right now

Cole is capable of 40 goals but just needs someone to open up the ice for him a bit

I like Tanev but why is Montreal doing this? they really really need to start thinking future. I know they are not bottom 5 in hockey but in the East it's very unlikely they are making the playoffs this year with or without Tanev.
Also Seattle probably doesn't do this.

Getting a winger won’t change a thing. No trade will get the Habs out of this hole. Norlinder won’t be traded.

Agree they won't be a bottom 5ish team. Even when Price comes back they will do enough just to probaby fall around 5-10 points behind the second wildcard team in the East. Trading future assets for a 30 year old probably isn't a good idea but hey go for it Montreal.

lol we're not trading futures and we don't know when Price is coming back. embrace the write-off for the 2022 draft

Come on!!

We have to be realistic, tanking is Habs only solution.

Furthermore, if we're getting out of the bottom-10 (top-10 pick), we're giving the pick to Zona...

We should trade Petry, not acquire some more bottom-6 veteran wingers

wow to those points:
  • Carey Price back soon (and Habs will look good)
  • Caufied is capable of 40 goals... this season
  • Adding Tanev will make Caufield elite and lead mtl to the playoffs??
  • Tanev, a bottom 6 winger, is more important than a LD prospect
Please never lose your optimism!

imo if Habs start to liquidate the prospect pool, it will just make things worst for this team long term...

I wholeheartedly think mtl should do this. While at it, include the 22' 1st and snag larsson as your weber replacement. No way it could go wrong.

Tanev doesn’t even begin to fix the issues in Montreal right now. Banking on another run like last year and liquidating assets to try and mimic it by obtaining veteran grinders making $3.5 million AAV for another 4 seasons is franchise suicide.

Habs issues are well documented- top end C depth, top pairing Dmen and a #1 goalie. WtF is the OP thinking? LOL

Petry, Chiarrot, Galagher, Toffoli, Hoffman, Anderson, Drouin, Dvorak are all available. Choose a player and send us draft picks or good young players.

Seattle has 8 NHL defensemen on their roster currently, why would they take Wideman?

A second round pick in two years and a skilled but undersized 21 year old defensive prospect who has struggled a bit in the SHL for a guy that is a fan favorite and the early heart and soul of the team in their inaugeral season.

Value may be there, but I don't think Seattle has any interest in this deal either.

Too many veterans for the habs to tank the season away. Good chance the horrible start keeps them out of the playoffs but they're considerably better than their record and will move up the standings.
