What a moron. This dude is almost 30. I mean I get everyone makes mistakes but I still don’t get how people make this one. “Oops I accidentally said something racist” isn’t a good excuse. None of that should be in your vocabulary and therefore shouldn’t just slip out.
2020 and people are still dropping racial slurs. Come on folks. This can’t be that hard to avoid.
You say this garbage at work you get fired. I don’t understand why hockey would be any different.
People accidentally say many things from 'i could kill that mf' to religous comments, sexual orientation comments such as calling someone a sissy (apparently that is anti LGBTQ according to one inclusion smeinar our firm requiires everyone to take), and even in a normal workplace someone commenting on your hair, your clothes, your age is all a no-no. So things slip out.
Emotions often run high in my job, too, but if I call the other side a racial slur I’m certainly getting fired.

What normally happens is not a firing for a first offense. You get a warning, counseling, and all sorts of other behaviour modification sessions. You get put on probation. If it happens again, then you get fired.
Funny how these "racism" offenses only happen in hockey. Similar offenses are unheard of in the NBA, NFL, and CFL.
Why is that you ask? In the NBA, NFL, and CFL, the vast majority of the players are African American. In football and basketball, Black guys set the tone. As a result, little or no anti-Black bias by White players.
If in the event that some Black football player shouted a racially charged word at a White player, the league would do nothing, the media would stay silent and the online peanut gallery would be silent as well. More likely than not, the White player involved would not complain in the first place.
You see, the sin of "racism" only works one way. That being only White people can be guilty of it. At least in the eyes of the media, and corporations such as sports leagues.
I have several friends that played in several professional sports (MLB, NFL, and MLS) and they say that certain minorities are always calling the other minorities by the common slur that you hear in all the rap songs.
They said the racial slurs were not the worst things that were said to opponents during the game.
You want it gone? Try not calling each other that name. You do not here jewish people calling each other certain anti-jewish names or the LGBTQ calling each other those slurs or even other races and nationalities calling each other the slurs for those races and nationalities.
Lastly, saying something doesn't necessarily make that person that thing. Me saying 'i'm gonna kill that mf dosnt mean I am a attempted murderer
