Gee, if only the nhl didn’t incentivize targeting the opponent’s stars.. Hagel made it too obvious and will now get 1-2 games just for making Parros do his job. Meanwhile if Barkov is in any way hurt- that’s still arguably a win for TB. Never change NHL.

Injuries matter when you hit someone in a bar or on the street. The worse the injury, the longer the sentence.

Because intent matters. If you intentionally discharge a firearm at someone's head and miss you don't get a reduced sentence from attempted murder. Obviously proving intent isn't easy, but in this case it is an egregious interference.

I’ve argued for the longest time that it’s only the players’ own basic morality keeping them from hurting guys on purpose. League incentivizes it. Noticed it years ago when Wilson laid out a random 1st line Vegas player- he got 2 mins, other dude missed a game and was clearly hampered. 2 minutes for interference is absolutely worth that.
