I’ve loved this season, seeing Brady grow especially, rally his team, how well they have played when at full health. In a playoff spot, winning streaks, big wins, the young kids improving.

This season has been for me one of the funnest in a long time, I love how the team plays, I love their grit and character - surprised you arent feeding off of that as a fan. What even keeps you going if not the players on the ice? Like if there’s nothing there for you, what are you getting out of this if it’s been years of no attachment, like honestly why are you here?
I will say this is the first season I've actually enjoyed more than not enjoyed since the 2017 run. It's just not enough for me yet, especially with it in peril a bit here with the injuries, losing streak and struggles. The wounds of old die hard and I'm not convinced the end result is going to be different. If they make the playoffs, I can see really buying in on the current group, but I'm not there yet. Some mild regular season success in a 1 year bubble isn't quite enough for me. Lets talk in April.

Why am I here still? The Senators have been a big part of my life since 1996. I'm attached to the franchise, but not all of this 29 years was me loving or being attached to the rosters some of those years. I get enjoyment when things are going well and they win, but I'm a sports pessimist by nature from conditioning.

How has he played for his actual employer this year?

And you do realize it's a bad look that he was able to elevate his game at the 4N while having his worst season with Ottawa right? I'm not even saying I expect him to play lights out for 82 games because that's practically impossible, but he's been a no-show on many a night so far in 2025, so to see that he did have quite a lot more to give really opened my eyes. I don't remember Alfie taking many nights off if at all when he was our captain.

I don't think the way Brady played at the 4nations is sustainable over 82 games. Especially not at 17-20 minutes a night.

I also think while his offense has suffered this season, along with most of the top 6, his defensive commitment has vastly improved.

Certainly want to see him on the ice, and combining his better defensive play with dominant physicality in the offensive zone.

He still has things to work on, and who knows, if the Sens miss the playoffs again maybe both sides seriously consider a big trade.

I just don't think the extreme negativity being directed at Brady after the 4nations is entirely warranted. Understand that others may feel differently about the situation though.

Well we’re well on our way to missing the playoffs again. I don’t see him sticking around.

At least we got to see him play good at the Four Nation Face-off!

At the end of the day, there'll need to be a hard conversation between Staios and Andlauer. There really are only two acceptable options, IMO:

1) You get a bidding war going and trade him at the draft (you're likely to get 7-8 serious teams in the mix like NYR, St. Louis, Dallas, LA, Florida, Vegas, etc). Some of those teams have serious assets, so with his unique profile + potential off ice impact, you'd no doubt get an absolute haul.

2) You keep him, but you commit to having him on the team until trade deadline 2028. You move pieces around him and try to win as much as you can in the next 3 seasons, but in no way, shape or form do you entertain trading him for pennies on the dollar once that NMC kicks in.

The only wrong answer is keeping him past July 1st and then giving in next season or summer if he asks out because you want to "avoid the distraction".

You either trade him at the draft, or he's here for the next 2.75 seasons (whether he likes it or not).

Feel like his value would be highest at this TDL.

The value we could get from Brady's sky high valuation could easily outperform Brady's performance as a player.

I thought Brady's wording on a quote was strange. When talking about how it was weird seeing sens fans against him during the 4 nation's, it will be nice to have them back on his side for the next 25+ games.

Why say 25+ games and not the next many years? He's on contract for several years.

Almost like he knows this might be his last run with the sens to make the playoffs or else he's going somewhere else.

No long term sens player says "will be nice to play for Ottawa for the next X amount of games" when they're signed for years...unless something is up behind the scenes and it was a verbal slip.

Could be because they are in the midst of a fight for a playoff spot? Is that too obvious? Should I dig deeper?

That doesn't make sense as a reply.

That in no way explains why he would specify 25 games when he's signed for multiple years.

What about beyond 25 games? Is he not excited for that?

It's strange specific wording.

Clearly the way he played at the 4 nations isn’t even sustainable for 3 games

Because his and and every other player on the team's focus is currently on this season and making the 2025 playoffs? Is anyone else on the team answering questions with next year and the years beyond in mind?
