Brad Treliving is doing a great job.

My guess is they are just going to lock the gang together and if and probably when it fails over the next 3 years they will simply say oh well the fans kept paying. We made money. Mission accomplished and the next set of fall guys I mean managers will come in.

MLSE looking for people who can hype up watching paint dry. If you can stall, sway, make excuses on the fly and generate false hope for the masses, you could be hired at MLSE

If by "doing a great job" you meant never won anything in his life and lost the Tkachuk trade then you'd be right.

This is a crappy GM. Flames fans were happy to see him go. I don't think Tre knows how to win.

He needs to acquire a 2nd/3rd line center. A big left winger with speed and a game changer D man. If he gets those pieces then we have a chance for a cup, if he does shit like last year then he has to go and bring in an experienced GM. Our big name players are getting older and haven't made it out of the first round except 1 time.

To get what I asked for, I could care less if we sell the farm...literally. Minten, Cowan, Danforth, Steeves, Holmberg, Kampf, Jarnkrok, Dewar, pics and anything else we have. Move Murray. Hildeby is better anyway.

We are close. A center, left wing and D man. Get it done. No excuses.

Not that shit again.

This is a crappy GM.

He's more accomplished than you will ever be.

Um, you know he can't remake the team overnight right? It will take some time to undo what Spreadsheet Dubas did.

Wow, what incredibly insightful analysis. My dog could have figured that out, ffs.

Really? Is that how time and aging work???

"I could care less" doesn't mean what you think it means. In fact, it means the exact opposite.

And then you'll be the first to cry about the prospect pool being so shallow.

These mindless comments always make me laugh. No one knows how to win until...they win. When the Leafs win the Cup this season, I guess he'll finally know how to win.

Not true. Look at guys like Brady and the Patriots system. Detroit Red Wings. Our old times Leafs knew how to win.

There are a lot of people that know how to win and I can give you a hint.

The don't lose in the first round year after year after year after year.

The first 2 points have literally NOTHING to do with the job he's done here.

As Leafs GM he's got a top 5 team in the league and he's 1st in the Atlantic

I bet you make a lot of friends.

very weird comment

The Domi signing is mystifying.... Was he signed to be a third liner when he's very poor defensively, and when we don't really have players to make up for the lack of defensive awareness

Questions:

If your star player is forcing a trade you don't want, within a small window of time, how does a club win a trade? And: Did Treliving draft Tkachuk?

If we're close, how is Treliving a "crappy GM".

Last year, he brought in OEL, Tanev and Stolarz and by all accounts, hit three homeruns. Are those three players the result of having done "shit like last year"? If so, please explain.

If other teams don't want to trade assets we need to us, would that meet your standard of unacceptable excuse? If so, which GMs impose their will on other teams without excuses? Asking because we can begin to campaign for that one instead of the one you've described.

Thanks

The day a player with at best one year remaining before jumping on free agency telling you he want to play in like of 2-3 city max in the NHL... Good luck ... What he had been able to get in value still pretty great, just huberdeau since he signed is not enough good but honestly i don't know how he could get more... And losing Tkachuk for nothing one year later would not be a better option for CGY.

So find something else to blame a gm tham this one...

Treliving didn't have a lot of assets to work with, given that Dubas traded away so many assets for rentals.

He needs to be creative, but right now, he's not making creative hockey trades. It seems he's way of building the team is through free agency (good signings for now, but the term of the contracts are concerning), but Domi looks like a bad signing atm.

He is going to be evaluated:

1. The Marner contract (either sign or trade him, to lose him for nothing would be terrible)
2. Tavares's cap space - how much does Tavares sign for and how to use the rest of the cap space that Tavares' contract frees up (hopefully not just on Knies' contract)
3. Matthews contract - Not sure what's going on, but Matthews playing not where near the value of his contract right now. He needs to determine if this might be a long term issue and how to manage this situation.

Look into why Tkachuk was bridged, not saying he handled it terribly, but he forced his own hand.

I'd only call Stolarz a home run so far... the other two haven't even played 25% of their contract and are on the wrong side of 30

Also, look into why Tkachuk was bridged...

And if Tkachuk only agree to sign a bridge deal? You know you need 2 side to reach a deal and even if you want to sign all your young 8 year , if he doesn't want and prefer to bet in himself and sign a bridge deal... You don't really have any option except to go with bridge deal and take a huge risk by overpay him hoping he will develop in something great and not becoming an awful contract

You're not in a video game where you can decide lenght and salary of the player whatever youbwant

He also traded away Sam Bennett for 2 2nds and Sean Monahan...... He doesn't seem to like to trade for prospects. For the Tkachuk trade, rather then Huberdeau, I'd rather see Calgary go for younger players like Lundell, Knight and re-build. Calgary was going to be a middling team going nowhere with getting Huberdeau, and there is fear that he will make the Leafs a middling team too with poor long term planning with building through free agency.

Treliving signed the bridge to keep Frolik, it's been reported.
