Boucher booted!

Sure he would. But it's the Islanders, they will never fire Capuano as long as Wangsnow is running the show.

Half of the posters on this board would be better than ****ing Capuano.

I'm confident that with skating lessons (really I just need to learn to stop without crashing into the boards) I'd be able to whip these boys into shape.

Seriously though, it's times like these that really bug me that we have practically no media presence/pressure. A move like this should make the Islanders look really terrible. But it doesn't, because no one besides us crazies know about it & make the connection. We're a whopping 2 points better than the Lightning. But our coach seems to have total job security. I'm not even going to be surprised the day after the season when Wang says that Snow & Capuano will remain.

Save us Ratner, save us now.

The grass is always greener on the other side. Most of you negative nancys on here would hate Boucher just as much as Capuano.

Not sure if I would like Boucher here. Things did not work out too well for him in Tampa. With that being said, I'm willing to try any coach, any coach would be better than Capuano.

Also, ironic, how Boucher so publicly turned down the Columbus job for the Tampa job and there's Columbus playing great hockey. At the same time, Boucher gets his pink slip!

I'm surprised that Staple hasn't been criticized, seems content to just collect quotes and not dig deep with Snow.

He has been criticized plenty on here. Staple doesn't like to be negative too often. Posters on here are very negative. Do the math!

He took the team to the conference finals in his first year and then Yzerman gutted the team and now they are where they are. They never had solid goal tending after Roloson. That is a huge factor as to why they keep losing.

7 coaches in 13 years!? It's safe to say, Wang isn't afraid to fire a coach.
No, just to HIRE one. We only got a solid coach once because everyone and their mother demanded Milbury gone and change.

Now we're back to lithium induced mania as fans. Doug Weight as coach....Strome to fix everything.....rebuild progressing.....

Ken Hitchcock is one happy SOB right now.

Hmmm - Let's see.

Newsday owned by Cablevision.

Cablevision has contract to broadcast Islanders.

Dolan and Wang supposedly friends.

It all makes sense.

Else Staple may end up like Jaffe.

Boucher sucks. No thanks.

I actually agree, his aggressive puck pressure system was highly touted before he was hired in TB but it quickly has been torn apart by other teams at the NHL level. The 1st year it worked but the rest of the league clearly took notes and it's been a mess since. Their goalies haven't been as bad as the numbers suggest either, Smith was horrible there but instanly improved in Phoenix under Tipetts structured D system, Roloson went from playing ok here and in TB in the playoffs in Bocher's 1st year then Rolie fell apart too. Right now they play so aggessive overloading the puck carrier it leaves alot of space uncovered at times hanging their goalies out to dry far to often and it's hard to fault Yzerman when he added Carle and Salo in the offseason.

Boucher is a smart guy though and I could see him learning from this and making some necessary adjustments to have some success in the near future but he needs to bite the bullet and learn from his mistakes and be willing to change.

I have watched quite a bit of Tampa over the years as they are always a highly entertaining game. Many goals for, many goals against, an ownership that splits with everyone hating on the other person, locker room fiascos, BFFs sticking a knife in their defensive partners... Just one big NHL meets Fantasy Island meets Days of our Lives. Yzerman hasn't exactly impressed me with his moves since taking over, and that includes moving Steve Downie out. Not addressing his goaltending in a meaningful way and having a highly suspect defense just leaves a giant hole they hoped a good coach would make up for. Then they bring in Boucher with his wide open game and he falls on his face. I call it highly predictable, but what did they expect given their in-balance in D vs. O?

He has looked as befuddled as Capuano on the bench for most of the year. If I am Yzerman I look towards a more established coach to handle the big names on the club too.

...and that is the sad truth as most of us would be pathetic coaches...

Most posters on here are capable of putting together better line combinations than what we've seen this year. I'd say most of us would also be capable of putting these lines out at the right time to match up to the other team, especially with the last change. Most of us would know when the right time is to use the timeout as well as when to pull the goalie. Capuano has repeatedly failed this year at all of these things.

My point is, while you are probably correct, many of the things Capuano has been terrible with this season could be properly executed by ANYONE else with ANY hockey knowledge and experience. At this point I would say Guy Boucher, Lindy Ruff, or anyone else with NHL coaching experience would be better than Capuano.

Hire that Guy!

In one corner, we have the steely-eyed, scarred bada$$ lookin' mofo who took 2 different teams to regular season and playoff championships in the Q (1 as an assisstant, 1 as HC), several gold medals as an assisstant for team Canada U18 and U20, AHL coach of the year and in his 1st season in the NHL, took his team to game 7 of the Eastern Conference final.

In the other corner, we have Fred Flintstone.

1st round TKO
