Lost
I can't believe how close this was to ending on a Parker Wotherspoon own goal with one second left.

Gotta suck for Toronto, I know from experience that I'd much rather lose 5-1 and have some peace of mind that the team just got beat outright than it to go to OT and have to agonize all summer long about all the near misses and could have beens.

Most Leaf fans lost that level of caring a long time ago from my experience, especially against this level of competition.

Years ago against a stacked Bruins team you seen some light, against an even better Tampa team there was light...this time? Oh you're having a battle of who is the taller dwarf and the reward is a 50 yard punt courtesy of the team that whipped both of their asses last year.

This one is eh.

I used to find it mildly amusing every year when the Leafs would inevitably lose in the first round, but it's getting old, even for this Oilers fan. Fringe HF posters aside, no fanbase deserves to be let down year after year like this.
They can no longer use the same line combos in the reg season as the playoffs. You need a tough guy or 2 on all the lines.

tfw you score 12 goals in a 7 game series and blame your goalie and not your $40m 'core four' forward group
This is becoming a bit of a braindead take. Both things can be true. It can be true that the 40m forwards sucked (particularly Marner and Tavares), and it can be true that Samsonov was at fault.

It's not either/or. Especially when playoff hockey is much more defensive than reg season. So you need your guys to step up AND your goalie needs to make huge saves to build momentum.

I think the Leafs actually played much better in this year's playoffs so this has to be a tough loss for them. They really need to avoid the Bruins in the future. They are like kryptonite.

WTF is Nylander thinking there? “What do I do on this side of the rink?”

Pathetic core 4 performance yet again. Matthews looked more disappointed after game 82, when you couldn’t get 70.

You can point out defensive lapses but 12 goals in 7 games is pathetic. They need to blow it up.

Overseas and cannot watch games at this point, but not a single part of me expected to see a Leaf’s win. I think my dreams predicted 3-2 bruins, but that says a lot when I automatically assumed an outcome.

I found the Leafs were bad in game one, game 2 they played well. They were not that good in 3/4 (I think 4 they were worse but maybe I'm moving them up). And then played great in 5/6. Then were fine in game 7 and it could have gone either way.

But when you pay players to score, and they get significantly worse in the playoffs. That's an issue. I do think they played better defensively this year. But they need to score. They built their team to win by offense, and they have zero offense and a terrible PP. Yikes.

I felt they played better last playoffs personally. (At least against Tampa)

Keefe is such a loser coach and so dumb. Such a bad take in the press conference.
Feel like that relationship has to be over if nothing else. Dunno if they're gonna manage to move on from any of the big 4 or finally get rid of Shanahan, but finding a new coach should be a layup.

Not made for the playoffs, Tavares signing sunk that core but they still won't admit it.

Boston executes a Sedin play perfectly for the series winner, what a twist of events.

Incredible read by Lindholm and perfect touch on the dump, then Pasta is too skilled to miss a glorious chance like that. The Twins legacy lives on.

Good game 7, good resilience this series from both sides in their own right. And most importantly, no good reason for Van/EDM to be subjected to Singh/Debrusk now!

If Leafs can't beat this Bruins team they are going to have to admit to themselves that they are built wrong and start doing something about it. Just firing the coach won't matter.

What are the Bruins players up to right now? Partying it up at some bar or straight to home/hotel getting ready for the round 2 Monday showdown? It's a pretty quick turn around going from a game 7 OT to game 1 in round 2. What would you do as a coach or leader on the team?

Let the boys celebrate/party or force the business approach and lock them up for the night.

What would you do?

Well I wouldn't party past like, early college years. These are professional athletes to whom physical health is far more important, so I don't see why they would ever party until they actually win the cup.

What they should do is go to bed early and sleep a solid 9 hours per night until the next game.

Many are happy to 'party' after a loss. You'd be surprised.

This is pretty much it. Don’t “party” in the sense of hitting the clubs, but definitely do spend some time celebrating tonight. Get all of that out of your system, get down to Florida, focus up and move on.

He's covering the high slot.

Marner gets fooled by the set play, Reilly doesn't stand a chance against Pastrnak and Samsonov gets a brainfreeze.

You should be ready for that play but game seven and ot means playing tired.
Of course rielly doesn’t stand a chance. He’s managed to stumble his way into a #1D position on an nhl team despite having the same defensive acumen as a rut in the ice. He may very well be a bottom 5 worst defensemen in the league when it comes to actually playing defense.

I knew the Leafs would lose when Matthews wasn't sitting. Such a pathetic player. Pitiful. Loser.

It just feels like the Bruins let this series get to 7 games just so that they could beat my Leafs once again in a game 7. It's like the Bruins get some sick pleasure from beating and humiliating my Leafs in the playoffs...

Some panic moves are gonna be made this summer. Not sure if it’s for the best
