I assume you’re including Vancouver’s 2024 first with Garland to swap into lower first for y’all.

As a neutral fan who keeps seeing these comments, what's the deal with Garland? Very good player on a very good contract, why do people keep saying he has negative value? I'd take him tomorrow on my team and would gladly give a second for him...

Canucks have too many forwards, especially middle 6 wingers and ideally need to trade one with term left to accommodate Pettersson's upcoming extension.

16 forwards signed right now, most of which are established NHLers, as well as a handful of ones with good potential in the AHL or in Sweden.

Kuzmenko
Boeser
Garland
Beauvillier
Mikheyev
Hoglander
Podkolzin
Joshua
Phil di Giuseppe
Pearson (injury wild card)

Centres right now are Pettersson, Miller, Bleuger, Aman, Dries, Studnicka (2 of the latter 3 will be going to the AHL)

Is your team an AHL or CHL team?

but Garland is neither a very good player nor does he have a very good contract. Maybe in 2019, but in 2023.… he’s negative value.

Boeser @50%
or
Garland @50%?

Am I close or not enough for the Canucks? Boston's 1st is going to be very late.

Sens should go after Laughton or Konency in Philly if they are going to move that Boston/Wings 1st rounder

PERCEIVED lack of value. He's not bad (got 50-point talent, scored that much last season and came close this past year) but it's coupled with, as mentioned, the previous lack of cap space and our own fans think we're going to get ripped off and will need to dump him for pennies on the dollar, hence the "sell him with sweeteners" narrative.

Since we bought out Ekman-Larsson though, we're not really in such a bind (and it's a seller's market for wingers in general, so I for one hope we hold onto him, since realistically in a supply/ demand perspective he won't yield much, though again, not because he's not personally good, there's just no readily available market for him, but if another team wants him the way the Wings wanted DeBrincat, he'll go for less of a return but won't be a cap dump).

He's an overpaid winger and undersized. Those players do not carry any value at all.
