Dallas add Z for a cup run, Bruins add Sharp to play with Krejci

Sharp = Chara or atleast someting in value or Chara is valued more now that aI relasied he is retained.

But

Spooner > Oleksiak

So what premium does Dallas send Boston for this crappy deal? Honka, Lindell?

Sure, just because of the value.

This is really bad for Boston.

As a Bruins fan this is pretty awful for Boston.

The statement in bold loses me as well. Oleksiak on his last year of his ELC averaged just 12 minutes of TOI and only played in a handful of games. At this time, he looks to be a longshot to get even second pairing minutes at his peak.

id get pretty sick in my mouth if anything remotely close to this ever happened

I'm guessing you probably hate chara?

on the other hand a spooner for sharp deal could have made sense if boston was actually a cup contender this year. I'm guessing dallas would welcome an opportunity to clear up some cap room.

since boston isn't a cup contender this year... I will suggest that spooner for hemsky and oleksiak might also be the basis for starts to a trade talk. I feel dallas would have to add a little bit as spooner is very likely going to be a top 2 line center in the NHL and oleksiak is starting to look like a waiver wire candidate.

it might make sense though for dallas to deal off one of their expensive wingers and they do seem to have too many kid dmen that are going to be waiver eligible in the near future.

So two years of Chara for one year of Sharp. Fair value I guess but considering Year 2 of Chara drops his cap hit to 4.0 million, I wouldn't make this move.

A 50-pt 24-year forward in Spooner for a soon-to-be 24-year D-man in Oleksiak who still hasn't grabbed a full-time job at the NHL level. Questionable if he ever will.

Big time loss for Boston. Factor in Boston's depth at 25-and-under LD prospects and this makes no sense.

I personally would have been okay with the Bruins trying to trade Chara & Krejci and go for a rebuild more than just the re-tooling of the roster.

That obviously isn't happening now; and this trade doesn't really help accomplish it either. Other than cap space, it doesn't buy as any value after this season.
