Chicago did well here. Crotchet is a nice pickup for Boston but only if they follow it up with signing Burnes.

Montgomery is a hell of a lot better than most teams' #5 prospect. Teel is a very high floor, good defensive and most likely 'good enough' offensively to be a good starting catcher and soon. (The offensive bar is lower for starting catchers of course). Don't know anything about the other 2 guys, or where the Sox need prospects the most.

Cause Crochet while good, isn't exactly one of the games best pitchers. So I'm not surprised they aren't fans of overpaying for a guy just because hes a name that's been mentioned as one of the better pitchers available.

Since I have a sub, Baseball America's BoSox "Preseason 2025" prospect rankings, they're fairly close to the MLB Pipeline ones:

Teel, 4th in system, #25 overall
Montgomery, 6th in system, #59 overall
Meidroth, 8th in system
Gonzalez, not in top 10, was 16 at 2024 midseason update.

Fantastic deal for Boston.

Crochet was really good last year as it was but he'll probably blow up getting out of that CHW cesspool. Look what happened to Kopech when he was put with a better team.
