Mackenzie centered out Bolland for only scoring on the pp (3 goals in the first 3 games) and said he needed to step up and score even strength.

In the first three games he didn't play very much even strength so how was he going to get points?

In the game with the US he seemed to play very well even and on the pp. Now that they don't have him on the point or in front of the net I think he's really found himself. They even had him playing on the right half boards when he's used on the left side in London.

I'm very biosed so if you could let me know what you think it would be great.... and if Bolland is playing up to his potential who is the player most underacheiving?

I expected more out of Bolland myself. Not sure if the injury is still impacting his play or what.

Thought he was a PP specialist?
At least in London, right? :)

A goal is a goal. This Canadian team has been solid all around but their goal scoring has been far from spectacular.

I think we should be happy of any players scoring goals and not care *where* their goals are coming from :dunno:

I agree, and think many people were spoiled by last year's team.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one that found mackenzie's comment a bit strange.... I guess pick on a guy that doesn't have any points before a guy that hasn't scored even strength.

Yes he is a pp specialist but he also has to be a defensive and even strength leader like he is in London. I'm really looking for a big game from him tonight.

We've got to go in hard and cycle the puck well with some nice cross crease passes.... should be Bolland's game.

Anyone read the Bolland article on hockeysfuture.com?

link to article

Anyone else get a kick out of the first line... "London, Ont. may not be that far from Vancouver, but the adjustments that Dave Bolland has had to make during his journey are significant. "

What exactly *do* they consider far? 2600 miles seems pretty far to me

Well that's actually good news because the Hawks can't score on the PP so maybe there is hope for the future.

As for team Canada there's other players who need to step up 5 on 5 besides Bolland. Not one Canadian player in the top 15. Toews IMO needs to have a big game tonight.

Bolland isn't the only high profile player in this tournament not scoring at even strength. That seems to be the case for several players and really most teams. Teams are winning because of strong special teams and goaltending, plain and simple.
