By the percentages of flops by position, no. You are probably right in the exact numbers. Shawn Belle comes to mind, but he was basically a second round pick. Marek was a top 20 that was picked to go even higher. Goalies truly are a major crap shoot.

Other than Marek, who has been a skilled goalie who didn't make it?

Cody Rudkowsky, Hannu Toivanen, Jason Bacashua....more?

Was Rudkowsky even drafted?

The other two were not drafted by the Blues, but rather traded to the Blues after it was apparent they were not going to work out.

None of the three are reflections on our drafted prospects and whether they made it.

Your comment was skilled goalies, not Blues drafted ones. Sorry if we weren't on the same page. Rudkowsky was a highly sought after free agent much like Copley and Curtis Joseph. There have been more free agents over the years too. If you know your Blues history from that time, then you would know both goalies sought in trade were considered to be guys that would be big impact players here that just weren't getting the opportunity where they were.

Both the Bacashua and Hannu situations were change of scenery trades. Our prospects were not developing as hoped and neither were these goalies. Both teams were simply rolling the dice.

They were top prospects caught in a numbers game. Dallas had Turco firmly planted in and Dan Ellis was also a top prospect. Boston had Tim Thomas in front of Hannu and he threatened to leave, if he wasn't traded.

Aside from Schwarz, who else failed that was a 3rd round pick or higher? The only one I see since Schwarz is Barulin, who didn't want to come over.
Barulin was a decent choice IF he would have come to North America. He's a quality goaltender. The problem is that Russian goalies are highly prized and highly paid in The KHL. very few of them decide to come to North America. So, The Blues failed in that gamble.
