I voted for Edmunson this time, with Vanelli and Husso also garnering consideration.

Went with Edmundson again. I feel that he'll be a NHL Contributor thus year(call up). Just like Lindbohm did last year.

Edmundson is probably the safest bet. Vanelli has a higher upside potential, given his tremendous offensive sense, but he has a long way to go in his overall game, and defence is the primary role of a defenceman. Husso appears to be very talented, but goaltenders' careers can go up in smoke instantly at any given time, so despite being talented in a number of areas, a lot can happen between now and the end of his prime development period of 26-28 or so.

Nevertheless, I voted for Husso, because I have a gut feeling that he'll turn out quite well.

I agree with you Robb...I have a good feeling about Husso. Let's see what he does across the pond. He may shoot past everyone on this list kind of like Lindbohm surprisingly did when he came over.

I am going Edmundson again. I'm sure hoping he may develop into a modernized Adam Foote stay at home type nasty defender no one likes to play against we could definitely use alongside Petro. Tools are there. He is a very good scrapper too. Never hurts to have another big presence to make sure players don't take liberties with our better talent...like Petro. I mean if one of those big bad Sedins rough him up again....:shakehead

As for how I rank players I usually go

Likely hood of being in the NHL>NHL readiness> ceiling>floor.

Sometimes a players ceiling will supercede everything else if they just ooze too much skill but are a bust potential.

Guys like Edmundson, why he may not ever amount to more then a 2/3rd pairing dman, he seems like he has an all but certain NHL future. He's one of those guys that with the right partner will look brilliant. So while he may not be a 40+pt dman, I value the idea that he can have a presumably long NHL career as a mobile bone crushing dman.

Just wanted to quote this post from the last thread because it made a lot of sense to me.

If possible I would vote for Husso.

Husso for me. I think he got highest potential/ceiling of our goaltender prospects. I liked what I saw in WJC games and how he blend it better in smaller rink compare to European bigger rinks.

Husso here. He has the greatest potential to be an impact player of the prospects left and has not done anything to hurt his chances. We still need to see how he transitions to NA, so there is still a good chance he takes a step back. However, if someone said take a pick between the remaining guys, he is the one I pick.

Edmundson has some hurdles to jump in order to make the NHL. It wouldn't surprise me if he plateaued as a solid AHL defenseman. He has upside, but aside from his physicality he still has many areas to improve.

Vannelli has some deficiencies in his defensive game (ones that our big enough of a concern that it hurts his ranking) and I am not sure if his offense will translate at the NHL level. If he can develop well in the AHL I could see him getting a shot an potentially being as high as a #4 D, but more likely a third pairing guy.

Copley is a crapshoot at this point. 20-30 or so games just isn't enough to instill confidence. He needs to show more.

We are getting to the point in this list where most, if not all of these guys, won't make the NHL for a prolonged period. So, I would rather vote for a home run than pick a guy who is an equivalent of a bargain bin UFA.

I think we struck gold with Lindbohm and there aren't many guys who can make those kinds of strides. Edmundson has the potential to do that, but he hasn't really shown the ability to tap it too much in his career to date.

I have to disagree to a point. I think his injury is what stalled that. Managment had Edmundson ahead of where Lindbohm was last year. When he rejoined the AHL towards the end of the season(Edmundson) looked to be better then Lindbohm. Now I've said before that Lindbohm looks better in the NHL then AHL for whatever reason. So with him having another offseason to improve and an actual training camp. I think we'll see him get some call ups this year and with a solid partner, I think he'll work out great. I like that he has a cannon of a shot, something we lack from the left side. Someone correct me if I'm wrong as my AHL memory is fuzzy at this point but didn't. Edmundson take the top pairing role with Parayko?

I went with Edmundson. He's solid defensively, big, nasty and has a howitzer of a shot from the point. I expect to see him get callup duty this season.

I like Husso in the little I've seen of him but I'm a little cautious of him given that his Ligga numbers went down last season compared to the season before and then he lost his starting job in the playoffs last season after not playing very well. He seems to have good fundamentals but I would like to see him perform well in the AHL before I get too excited about him.

His first half of season Husso played very good level, he were Liiga top3 goaltenders, but mostly what young goaltenders can face is downfall. There was some rumours that Husso party little too much and his presence was bit chubby. Now HIFK site they have upload video where Husso was better shape, so looks like boy understanded he didn't get easily NA invate and he have to work his ass off. I hope he has waked up, 'cus in many areas he reminds me young Kari Lehtonen.

Husso has the most upside. Edmundson is the closest. MacEachern or Vannelli have the most skill. Someone like Pochiro or Poganski could be 3rd-4th line types that end up having longer careers than the rest.

Poganski's upside is far greater than Pochiro's 5 or 6 line aspirations, if he can stick in the AHL... Poganski was very impressive when I watched him play for North Dakota. 14 points in 38 games in your freshman year is pretty impressive. He's big and can skate. He shouldn't be far behind MacEachern.

I think he is ahead of MacEachern, based on development at his age. MacEachern had an extra season in the USHL. Poganski made the jump in his plus one year and dramatically improved over the course of the year.

Personally, I went with Husso. I think he has more upside. Edmondson, while a lot closer to the NHL, has an upside of a 3rd pairing guy. A physical 5 or 6, maybe even a 7th. i went with the guy who still has starter upside.

Edmundson. Husso is very skilled, but we've seen our skilled goalie prospects flop to often. Remember Marek Schwarz?

Edmundson could end up as the defensemen with nastiness we've been waiting for since Pronger.

Obviously he's not going to be a world beater, but a potential 4-6 defender who will abuse guys like Toews and Getzlaf? Yes please.

This is how I think of Edmundson, his effectiveness will depend on his partner I think. With the line of high end puck movers we have, I think it'll be a great match up

We have more skilled and "sure to make the NHL" defenseman that have not made the the jump than skilled goaltenders that have not made it.

Yeah, I'm hoping to see a nice rebound year from Husso. Whether his somewhat down year was because of too much partying or not being in prime shape (I had heard whispers on those issues too but they don't seem to be completely proven facts so I will just treat them as speculation at this point), or because of something else, I'm hoping to see a very good year from him and then he's preforming well in N.A. for 2016-17.

By the percentages of flops by position, no. You are probably right in the exact numbers. Shawn Belle comes to mind, but he was basically a second round pick. Marek was a top 20 that was picked to go even higher. Goalies truly are a major crap shoot.
