They could've had a Checker'd future if they'd made a deal with Charlotte.... their checkered past ...

It still seems odd to think Charlotte and Carolina will part ways. The only reason that would sort of make sense is their was a disconnect between Michael Kahn and Tom Dundon.Obviously,
Panthers to Chicago.
Or so it would seem.

I read your post from weeks ago and it seems like you where right all along. If its true that Charlotte is going to be Florida’s affiliate next year. There probably is a plan to distance themselves from the canes such as reverting to the echl color scheme. Charlotte Checkers Logos - American Hockey League (AHL) - Chris Creamer's Sports Logos Page - SportsLogos.NetYou mean like I said weeks ago and was told by tarheel i didnt know what I was talking about?
I can't see Carolina being happy in Chicago for very long. They have an emphasis on developing talent which contradicts the Chicago mentality....
Springfield has a lot of local division opponents besides Charlotte they don’t usually travel farther than PA it allows for more practice Time in Springfield Printable PDF Schedule | Springfield ThunderbirdsKind of strange to see the Blues go all the way to Springfield, while the AHL tries to keep moving further west where the Blues have had their AHL teams for a long time. A lot of long trips and less accessability.
I'm talking long trips to and from St. Louis, especially if they're on the road somewhere.Springfield has a lot of local practice time besides Charlotte they don’t usually travel farther than PA
Southwest Airlines adds non-stop service to New England from STLI'm talking long trips to and from St. Louis, especially if they're on the road somewhere.
Charlotte has always seemed to be miscast in their spot in the league without many regional partners.

They had 3 options:
1 was unlikely to happen given that St. Louis had actively tried to get Indianapolis and then Kansas City to pay their way into becoming their AHL affiliate rather than do what most other teams have done and do it themselves. 2 was never going to happen given Chicago's style as well as the past between the two teams. 3 was the only real option. Call-up times from San Antonio to St. Louis weren't much shorter than what call-up times from Springfield to St. Louis will be, so that's a wash. Springfield also is a short- to medium-length bus trip from every single conference games save for Charlotte. San Antonio didn't offer anything near that. That's a lot more time for their prospects on the ice, in the gym, and sleeping in their own beds.
- try and buy an AHL franchise from one of the few independently-owned teams left, which Vegas showed is easier said than done and St. Louis has showed they really aren't interested in.
- Affiliate with the only open affiliate in the Chicago Wolves.
- Try and convince one of the few NHL teams affiliated with independently-owned AHL teams to leave their AHL team and affiliate with Chicago.
You forgot option 4. Buy an AHL team from an NHL team. Also, that whole lie about winning not being important, facts be facts. Knights affiliated with Wolves, go to Finals, Blues win cup. Milwaukee always winning - Nashville always winning. Checkers started winning, Canes started winning. Norfolk won, Tampa Bay started winning.
nope, how did Charlotte join the league, tommy, they bought the license from CDS, an independent, it has always been that MO, WHY Did the Devils bolt Albany and 'trade' the affiliation in essence to Carolina, then that stipulation as to why all Devils affiliates at the AHL Level were forced to adopt the Devils moniker rather than an independent nameYou forgot option 4. except, there have been no issues with Vancouver and Utica, either, like you're seeing elsewhere, why did the Blues change their operation away from the standard owner/operator model, that's been prevalent the last 7 years, JD.Let's remember Vancouver still has Utica as their affiliate, and the travel issues of going from the Mohawk Valley to British Columbia. Yet they get that to work.
It's amazing to me how one AHL team in Chicago has created this scramble for new team affiliation.
It was the Vegas Golden Knights who decided they wanted their own AHL affiliate that started this merry-go-round, not the Chicago Wolves.
Not the first time - and probably not the last time - VGK will rewrite the script for the NHL in the League's 2nd century. It was the Vegas Golden Knights who decided they wanted their own AHL affiliate that started this merry-go-round, not the Chicago Wolves.
