Post-Game Talk: Blues 5 - Jets 1, Series tied at 2

So what they just lose all hope when they go down a couple of goals cause if so they don't deserve to get out of the first round. Look I know Helly has sucked but cmon, we saw them go down multiple goals in the regular season and keep fighting and even coming back to win, this is unacceptable behavior in the post season.

We can't just lay all the blame on Helly's doorstep, he is not the sole reason we have lost these last two games.
who said he was the only reason? but that was a big part, you could clearly see the tides turn after that goal, he is not battling at all, he is making himself small and hoping the puck hits him instead of fighting to see thru traffic, he's had 1 good game in the series so far, he is considered to be the best goalie in the league

Still processing this mess but helle going straight to the dressing room was a bad look. The way the puck was left in the cease on that one goal and he didn't move his stick was another bad look, but I am most concerned about what he said when Morrissey blocked him trying to get across the crease. Was he angry at the ref or Morrissey? Given that and the way his playoff record is expanding for the worse, I don't know what to think.

For some reason the defence have become tentative and a shell of themselves in Winnipeg as well. Morrissey looks completely off.

Yes they have taken a lot of hits, but I think this is more of a mental issue between the ears than some sort of massive physical Blues advantage.

I am also wondering why Stanley did not play.

When the jets have faced key moments in these past 2 games they have collapsed, not dug deeper. That's a mental issue. Does the issue follow them back to Winnipeg or not?

Can they reset?

I literally have no idea.

Its a bad feeling.

helle never sits on the bench, he watches the game in the dressing room with flaherty, he really needs to pick up his game but this is a non-story

This right there. He isn't the only reason but he's the biggest reason. It's hard to have a confident team when your goalie isn't playing with confidence.

Binnington is fighting through traffic and he's battling. Helle is deep in his net and is not playing like he can.

I got consistently lambasted for setting out my concerns during the season. Heck, I was accused of being a leaf fan. The past 2 games are proof of all my and seems your concerns coming true. We will see if this team has a heart or if they continue to crumble.

coming into the Jets board and promoting your favorite team The Laffs isn't going to win you any good will. You were mostly trolling the board all season long.

This is naturally what happens when you lose confidence in your goalie. You second guess things in your end.

I was reading game 1 of the leafs/sens gdt on the main boards and this person was actively cheering them on and glazing all the leafs fans, dude is 100% a leafs fan that comes here to troll the board

the 2 keys to winning this series is having helle fight the traffic and find the shots, we really haven't given up many second chance goals this series and our middle six actually putting up some goals to take the pressure off the top 2 guys

I also think both things are true and that Helle performance is a big part of the Jets' psychological 'armour'. I think when he's on the guys get a major lift. Pretty obvious but they probably all know he hasn't been his best in post season and are at least a little more fragile because of it.

I am not getting the depth thing so many people talk about with us having an edge on St Lou...our depth is showing and it's not very good.

I appreciate that we are missing 2 key guys, but St Lou is missing what many Blues fans have said was their main guy, Holloway. Up front they still have Kyrou, Thomas, Schenn, Buchnevich, Neighbors, Faksa, Texier, Bolduc, Sundquist

Their D may be long in the tooth overall, but they are scads better than ours and they are big enough to clear the front of the net.

That depth is much better than ours? No?

I'd add in the pp getting back on track to your list. It was a real big reason for this teams performance the first half.

Speaking of re-signing do you think Ehlers could handle all this hitting and abuse the Jets are taking in this series?
Until the Jets get a hard nose player like Wilson or Bennet this is what is going to continue happening in the playoffs.
Jets are not tough or should I say mean enough for the playoffs.

I’ve read some stats that said Helle has the 2nd worst, or worst save percentage of “ all goalies” this playoff season. This has got to change, if we’re going to win this series.

This is a good team, but they are going to have to show some character and grit, when they get down a couple goals, and not collapse, like they’ve done these last 2 games.

It’s now or never man, and if they lose this next home game, likely they lose the series.

I hope they can turn the momentum around very fast.

Helle plays best when he is a top of his crease looking large and quiet, he is not doing that in this series
There’s one problem with that … the Jets D cannot keep his view clean. The Blues just stand in front of him and block his view and with one pass it would be an empty net goal for the shooter.

Are we playing like the best team in the league over the regular season right now ? NO. ( President Trophy)

I don’t mind losing these last 2 games, but it’s how we lost them, and totally collapsing, and getting blown out by 4 goals,in the last 2 games, that’s very concerning.

They have to toughen up, and come out fighting with everything they have in this next BIG game at home.
