Post-Game Talk: Blues 5 - Jets 1, Series tied at 2

Whilst true the post season is a completely different beast, there is another gear that players must shift into and seemingly this group doesn't seem to have that extra gear.

These last two outings were pretty pathetic, they wilted under the pressure and lost all composure and had almost no push back, losing is one thing, but losing the way they have is completely unacceptable.

I agree. But this team was built to win low scoring games. They have an offensive first line and then a middle 6 that is supposed to suppress as much as it is to score.

It's hard to stick to that template when the player you've built the entire scheme around is giving up 4 goals a game with an NHL worse .800 save percentage.

This team has played to its identity for the most part this series. But the team is out of its element when the linchpin falters as Helle has.

The team isn't designed to win 5/4 games and that is what the last two games have turned into with Helle not being able to make some saves.

Is there an issue with the GAS on this team, it sure has looked that way in St. Louis. Way to many players that don't want to go that extra mile maybe more concerned about their bank accounts. It's not a good look. But folks this series is not over not by a long shot especially with a Jets win on Wednesday after all it's the NHL and anything can happen on any given night. Everyone and I mean everyone better get on the same page.
It's not bank accounts, it's getting hit non stop for 3 games. Morrissey can barely skate. Scheifele has been hit a hundred times, was body slammed in the second. Head butted by 89.
It taxes your energy. Slows you down.

If we can regroup by next game, maybe some fresh legs; Vilardi etc

Does Helle even want to play game 5? It didnt look like he wanted to play in games 3 or 4.
No clue but I was told from someone the game that he was not on the bench for the third period. Hopefully, he is not hurt and went right to see the sports psychologist.
I feel for him since he was a key reason they made the playoffs but now he is a key reason this series has titled in favour of the blues .

We have certainly not been playing to our identity in these last two games, I don't even recognize the team that showed up to these last two, and sure Helly is definitely one of our biggest problems but not our only problem, our defense has gone to shit, our best players have been MIA, we have offensive black holes in our top 6 that do sweet f*** all.

If Helly was our only problem I would honestly be feeling a little better about this team, as it stands right now I certainly don't have a good feeling for the rest of this series.

The way the refs have been calling the game … Do you think if one of the Jets D cross checked Thomas to the ice you think the refs would not call it a penalty on the jets?
Can't use the refs as a crutch we can't control it, Jets have to play thru it. All teams feel hard done by the refs we aren't special even if it looks like most of the calls go against us.

I don’t know if I could survive a longer playoff run if this is how the team decides to play at home/away. It would give me whiplash and Proctalgia Fugax 😅

we were playing good until that 2nd goal went in, it was just so deflating for the team after that

They unraveled today only after our goalie let in 3 goals on like 12 shots. They were playing good hockey until then.

Yes the team looked like shit in game 3 but they started well today and only shit the bed after our goalie failed to make the saves he normally does.

Yes there are other issues like an ice cold pp but every team has defensive miscues.

Scotty is going to have to make some changes to generate secondary scoring. Disappointing how easily the Jets gave up quality chances, how the Blues got to the net where the Jets did not.

At this point I think every fan is just hoping it's a homer series.

That's the only hope I have.

Our best players were great in the first 2 games. But the physical punishment is taking its toll. We are a smaller softer team than the blues, makes it hard in the playoffs. We don't really have a 2C, especially a playoff one.

Brayden Schenn has scored and thrown about 10 to 20 big hits per game.
Names is trying his best but he's never been a scorer or a physical guy.

I guess that’s one positive aspect to look at.. because we finished first, the Jets can’t lose out on the Stanley Cup until we lose on home ice. So yeah, every road game can be a 6-1 loss, as long as we never lose on home ice.

I agree the Jets played through it game 1&2 … this game to me was more about lucky bounces and Jets not winning the tough board battles.

I think if Vilardi comes back Wednesday you put him on the second line with Barron at centre and Koal on the other wing. Continue with the top line as is. Rearrange the bottom six with Apples and Nino with Vladdy, and Lurch with whoever is left.

So what they just lose all hope when they go down a couple of goals cause if so they don't deserve to get out of the first round. Look I know Helly has sucked but cmon, we saw them go down multiple goals in the regular season and keep fighting and even coming back to win, this is unacceptable behavior in the post season.

We can't just lay all the blame on Helly's doorstep, he is not the sole reason we have lost these last two games.
