Apparently the refs helped the Rangers keep the game close, according to the other guys on here.

I'm sorry, but Howden got horsecollared, no call, multiple slashes, on Smith's shot the biggest culprit. We did get away with stuff, but man they let so much more on the other end, it's not funny.

How NYR is it to lose your red hot franchise goalie at the trade deadline in the middle of a playoff push to injury by some freak accident?

I have zero doubt we are in if he doesn’t get hurt. He isn’t losing 3 games in a row I don’t think he’s lost 3 games in a row since he was in diapers

meanwhile absolute trash cans in net have been awful since the deadline. Just awful.

No. Sorry this is just nonsense. DQ has been coaching to win all year. He has certainly displayed this in the last month plus with how he has handled the goalies. He is coaching to win. He is shuffling lines in game. He has players getting minimal minutes in the 3rd period. He is coaching to win. Lemieux doesnt belong in those crucial spots and yet he is there. And yet he is not producing over and over again. Bad job by DQ
There is a difference between coaching to win, which he has done since he started, and coaching like it's game 6 of the ECF and double shifting Panarin-Ziba-Buch the 3rd period.

There are not enough guys producing to bench guys who aren't. Lots of guys aren't producing.

They're not a playoff team so that doesn't seem like a problem right now.
I agree. But I think there are way too many people in here with visions of the Blues circa last year and that is just not the case with this team.
They just outplayed the defending Stanley Cup Champs, who have been on their own run, in the midst of a great stretch sans the Flyers game. This isnt just one game. They have beaten good teams. They have beaten teams in the playoff hunt. I know you so badly want to come up with some narrative that this team is so far from being a playoff team...but it just isnt true. Sorry. Not the case. They very well may not make the playoffs but they have taken positive steps forward and are not far off. And thats the whole argument that multiple people are giving you pushback on...they are not far off.
I don't need to come up with a narrative. Just gotta point to the facts. They have consistently lost to teams that have solidly been in playoff position. Here are their recent losses:
Blues, Flyers, Bruins, Sabres, Stars, Canucks. Now the schedule is only going to get tougher. So at the end of the day we'll see just how good they really are? My hypothesis is that they are going to consistently lose to the better teams in the league, which is what they've shown already.

The hockey gods are still mad at JD and Gorton for not sticking to the plan and trade Kreider. Always stick to the plan when it is working. Dont be greedy.

Where did i say bench Lemieux? I said choose someone else for the PP2 and the 6-on-5. It hasnt been working with Lemieux in those spots. Try someone else. Try Chytil or Gauthier with the net empty there.

They gotta find a way to get Gauthier more ice time IMO. His hands might be a bit behind his speed and thinking but there's so much skill there. His size and speed alone makes him an obvious Kreider substitute both in a bigger role in the top 6 and on the PP.
I think in 2 or 3 games he'll be given a shot.

Kakko showing signs was nice to see

Quinn saying he has to get used to going to the net. Not just 3 times a game

One game against a really tough SC defending Blues team and we are now boring.
This has been one of the most exciting teams I've ever watched.

I'm going to keep asking this until I get an answer..

What the f*** is a Mandar?

Look at the teams ahead of us and the injuries they are dealing with.

The Rangers don't have a Greg the leg McKegg to stand on.

Quinn sounds really proud of his team tonight.

Chytil has no chance of being an effective net front presence right now. You just can't. Gauthier probably does but Quinn seems intent on introducing him relatively slowly and giving reward spots to guys who have been here. I DONT DISAGREE WITH YOU that he should click buttons a little more with this stuff but in the end it's not *that* big of a deal either way.

I can do that too. Just last month they also beat the Isles, maple leafs, Carolina, Columbus, and Minnesota. All teams in playoff position or fighting for a spot. The last 3 games have been against tough competition but you can't discount the losses of Kreider and Shesty.

i think the hockey Gods were watching the Blues and hoping for a matchup vs Dallas.
