Sucks but its okay. The schedule has been and will continue to get brutal so while I'm not really expecting them to eat up points and sneak into the post season, I'm still proud of how far they've come in just this season alone.

Yup...well said as your right...most of the time we win when we play like we played tonight. We just happened to be playing the defending Cup champs who look very much like they can repeat!

This very very likely is the end of any playoff talk and that's really OK. We'll still have important games to play in March which will be great experience for the kids and so we move on in the rebuild.

Bottom line...we are a pain in the ass to have to play against and we are about a year ahead in the rebuild. Not even mad...love this team and the future it has both short term and long.

Sell off what? Kreider? Strome? DeAngelo? That moves us backwards not forwards. Maybe they should have traded Fast but you know what i'm not going to cry about that lost 3rd round pick.

Just gotta pray Chytil, then Kakko, make leaps next year. Unfortunately, Buch is not a player who can carry himself. He needs Kreider. Then you got your fringe trash like Howden and Lemieux.

How are you better with KAKKO out there over Lemieux as far as board play goes? Lemieux battles hard and will work tirelessly to get the puck back. Kakko doesn’t have that yet. Gauthier is a guy I thought he was going to come out with. He had him on the ice listening during the timeout.

Kakko at least was getting some chances tonight and is good in front. But yeah Gauthier would be my first choice too, but I just mean any of them over Lemieux.

I like Lemieux. Lemieux is a good bottom 6 energy guy who can pop in 10-15 goals. He should be killing penalties. Power play is not something he should be playing and he shouldn't be out there with our goalie pulled trying to tie it.

He's not Kreider. He's not Kreider-lite. He's not even remotely similar to Kreider as a player.

I disagree. If you look at the teams they've lost to recently, they're all the ones in playoff position. Playing well and losing is meaningless when the game is on the line. They don't hand you two points for "out playing" another team. You get the 2 by scoring more goals than them. This is also a team they've lost to earlier in the season.

When this team can consistently hang with the big boys, then they'll be ready. But that's very clearly not the case here.

They're rebuilding, and if you run this game out 100 times they win probably 60 or 65 of them. In hockey, that's really good.

Sometimes you lose despite being the better team. In hockey more than most sports.

Losing doesn't mean that nothing positive happened in a game though. They played a good game. They lost. Happens to the best teams.

Works hard, plays clean, probably has done what he's asked all year, and Quinn isn't coaching to win every game like it's the last game forever. If you don't put guys out to outperform their current slots, they will never outperform their current slot.

It's a reward system thing. Lemieux has a bigger "bank" than Gauthier right now.
