Yea, you got a point. I guess I just want to see what a total new person from outside can do with this lineup/team.
Agreed fully. I don't want anyone currently involved with the management group taking the reins going forward

I will say for as much as i demand change, i will acknowledge that tomorrow is absolutely not the time to do it.

The team has already had a tough week as is and i can't imagine going to a funeral is going to do much to boost morale. Let Charlie finish out the skid and then boot him during the break.
That timing is very unfortunate for sure. I was thinking the all star break would be the time they did it. Problem is if they go on a mini run they can't really fire him while they are winning. It just needs to be done asap. Maybe not monday but this coming week

I'm not sure Baltimore can keep this going over a full season but i'll root for them if they do.

Love me some Cedric Mullins

I think this season would be one of the greatest failures of a team in baseball history if we finish behind the O's who are now literally two games back of us and last in our division. Going for WS finals favourites to finishing last in the division and out of the playoffs. I don't know who would still have a job after that. My actual biggest fear is the result of the jays going forward spending the money they finally did this year and getting nothing for it.

It just goes to show you that spending money is one thing but it's more important to spend money on the right players! Personally I think Jays have too many players who thinks they are better then they actually are. As a Jays fan this is embarrassing

see this is why you taper expectations on a young and up and coming team. you will have hitches hiccups through these years. bo vlad kirk moreno biggio manoah are all 25 or under we have went big game shopping and yet a partail chunk of this fan base constantly wants to jetison players(take your pick) over react to every damn loss misplay or freak occurence .

your expectations need to modified we got screwed and over achieved in the covid season should have had another top 10 pick(leiter should have been ours) but boston got it instead. last season we had a good improvement . this year we are on pace for a similar season. ups and downs come and go.

this team just lost someone(buds daughter) who's loss seems to effected the whole team. so i will assume they had some form of relationship with the daughter.

the blue jays are still just human beings.

Bullpen is definitely Voodoo in the sense of how volatile the role can be. Look at a guy like Craig Kimbrel for example.

Went from lockdown to Atlanta, to shit in San Diego, back to lockdown in Boston, back to shit in Chicago, then back to good, then back to shit again.

Sometimes you can bring in a stud arm for the pen and just have said arm implode on itself. That's what I mean by Voodoo.

Kind of a bad turn of phrase, my bad.

Sigh - see, this is frustrating. Earlier you went into some good analysis about what makes a modern bullpen good...and then you completely invalidate your own analysis by calling the bullpen voodo. Pick a lane, because it can't be both - you can't articulate what makes our bullpen deficient and then waive it off by calling the thing voodo.

No, a bullpen is not voodo. Not remotely so. Anyone who calls it so is conflating sample size with magic. BP pitcher pitch far less innings than starters, ergo their stats are more volatile due to the sample size.

You used Kimbrel as an example. I can use 100 starting pitchers as a counter-example. Let's look only at the Jays. How about the fact that Kikuchi was an all-star last year? How about the fact that Ray went from a near 7 ERA in 2020 to winning the Cy Young in 2021? What about Ryu coming in 3rd in CY voting in his first year here, then pitching like a back-end starter last year and this? How about Gausman having an ERA of around 6 in 2019 and then suddenly turning into a stud the next year?

Pitching in general is more volatile than hitting. And the less innings you have, the more volatility you introduce - that's why bullpens may seem like voodo...but they are not. Stack your bullpen with quality relievers and 9/10 times you'll have a great pen. Ignore it and stack it with trash, and 9/10 times it'll be trash.

I am always baffled by people that think they can say and do whatever they want at a ball game. Immediate ejection...everytime...every single time.

And he’s throwing a fit because the Jays threw a couple of f bombs at him?

Don’t dish it if you can’t take it. How would they know the guys a minor anyway, red herring

Okay, when a player's glove picks a moment like that to blow you've just got to tip your hat and admit they were meant to lose that one.

I'm starting to think you actually take people literally when they use the "voodoo" figure of speech.

No, dude, we don't literally believe in magic. It's just another way of saying bullpens are unreliable exactly for the same reasons you've just stated. Everyone here understands the analogy. Even Nemesis has used the "voodoo" thing.

Question, why does the TO media seem to give the Jays managers etc a pass when it comes to tough questions? They have it way too easy!
Because they are owned by said media

We were Vegas odds favourites to go to the World Series. This wasn’t just fans getting ahead of themselves. This team is pathetic compared to what it should be

So do we just suck now or what's going on?

Also even Baltimore is now good and this division gets even scarier

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
This reminds me of the time my buddy was going after A-rod all game at the rogers centre saying he was garbage and a fraud and the whole 9 yards. He finally chirps back and says, "That's why I'm out here and you're paying to sit there and watch me, now shut the **** up".

My buddy laughed it off, tipped the cap and watched the rest of the game. Gotta expect it back if you dish it out.
