The silver lining to this backslide is that it finally gives the Jays the opportunity to fire Charlie Montoyo and bring in someone more component to lead us to a 2nd half heater.

Sign a new coach, bring in a few new pitchers and we can come out of this no worse for wear!

Do you have confidence they'll bring in someone better than Montoyo? All those Bud Black rumors don't have me feeling great about it. Maybe Schneider wouldn't be bad, but not sure how much input he has already.

Don't really want Maddon either.

I would be perfectly fine with Schneider. Even if it is an interm basis for the rest of the season see how he does and make a decision long term on the manager position in the off season.

Jays really need some kind of shake up. Whether its montoyo fired. Or trading a position player for a pitcher. But something has to give. My pick is for montoyo being let go.

Some bad ones here where they want Tiedemann and Orelvis/Groshans and a 3rd piece. But some others where they want guys like Biggio, Gurriel and/or Pearson which i would gladly do.

Provided they don't use Tiedemann or Martinez, I would be okay with this. Castillo would be huge. And then maybe another serviceable bullpen arm.

Something needs to change in regards how they approach at bats. There's like maybe 3 guys on this team that know how to work counts.

Springer: almost all of his hitting stats are down from his career average with his OBP being down by just under 30 points (career average of .358, currently at 330) and I noticed he's starting to fall into the same hole as the rest of the team hacking and absolute crap.

Bichette: I can't overstate how absolutely sick I am of watching Bo's at bats especially with him being in the two hole. That last at bat tonight in the 9th was infuriating. Learn to take a f***ing pitch for God's sake. When he started cold this year I was like "eh he'll adjust and change his approach." But as it turns out, it looks like he doubled down on his BS.

Vladdy: bit of a up and down run for him but is generally still a pretty well rounded hitter.

Kirk: no complaints here. Probably currently the teams best hitter. Whatever he's doing, please don't let the hitting coach f*** it up.

Gurriel. He is what is he is, super hot/cold. Can't really complain since even he walks occasionally

Teoscar: same thing: hacking at junk and costing the team dearly. He had a couple ugly at bats Saturday night.

Biggio: would probably glue the bat to his shoulder if he could. Hopefully he can keep it going since he looks like the Biggio of old.

Tapia: if the pitch is the first one of the at bat, he's swinging. Shoo speedy spaghetti hair man.

Chapman; was sold as "guy who strikes out an absolute assload but will also walk a ton." Well, we got the first part, not so much the second. Although there's other underlying numbers that suggest Chapman is.also just having shitty luck on the balls he actually makes contact with. Mostly disappointed thus far.

Espinal: doesn't really walk. Like at all. But his defense is so sparkly you can tolerate the average-ish bat (currently worth 2.0 WAR per baseball reference)

It's a systemic issue at this point. The guys who are still putting up numbers are letting their raw talent take over instead of actually having a refined approach. Even Vlad sometimes gets away with bad swings because he's just that good.

The absolute dunce cap lineup construction doesn't help either. Bo has been literally stapled to the 2 spot despite being absolute garbage for most of the season. why not try Kirk there? Or Gurriel? Gurriel doesn't have as much pop as Bo but at least he isn't an automatic out.

Was the meeting about how to lose more consistently. Because if it was job well done. I’ve been a huge Shatkins guy since they arrived but I’m getting to the point that they’ll need to go to. If they are so blind to not seeing that Charlie needs to go as the bare minimum, then my confidence in them to right the ship will continue to fade as well

Hey remember that time the jays made the playoffs for the first time in decades and immediate replaced their GM?

Crazy but true.

Oh well maybe shatkins will make the playoffs in year 8.

That’s who I grew up watching. They were incredible.
Everyone of them would walk into today’ pathetic version of the team,an no need
for a stupid jacket, and the rest of the crap that goes on in their dugout.

Analysis pretty much as my own, except for the fat jacket man.
Way too many first pitches for out.

Man wtf is going on the the Blue Jays. I watch from time to time and they were like 10-11 games above .500

I stopped watching the last couple of weeks and the team has been absolutely ass

i havent been watching in months tbh, they are not a fun team to watch at all. they dont have that killer instinct and discipline atm to make the post season, just trying to win on talent. please fire this manager and bring in someone who can hold players accountable, montoyo is a cheerleader not a manager.

They've been very streaky on offense along with being extremely RH, and while the pitching started great, they've dealt with a very inconsistent year from Berrios. Kikuchi has been straight up **** and we lost Ryu as well. Bullpen has been below average as well.

Ross Atkins and Mark Shapiro deserve a lot of heat for how the year has played out.

The bullpen is frustrating me the most only because of how little money or research we have seemed to invest in it the last few years. The offense can be frustrating, but they have been hitting well for a long stretch before this little blip. And the starters have had their good runs as well with downs. But we invest in every area except the bullpen.

So then when the offense struggles it seems like we keep running into bullpens with multiple guys throwing 100 with tons of swing and miss. How can we not find any of these guys ourselves? And it seems their finding younger ones with control too, not just like giving the bag to Diaz like someone will do this summer or Hendricks the year before.
