Haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere, but Mayza is expected to join the team today barring setback

Also, take his commentary with a grain of salt, because Mayza threw 16 strikes (not 18). He struck out the leadoff hitter, gave up a double, then a walk and left with runners on first and second and 1 out.

Has anyone heard anything about Vasquez injury? It looked pretty bad. I was thinking that might bet he roster spot when Mayza is ready. Vasquez to the IL, he was an option to go down when Mayza came back anyway

In A+, he has now allowed one earned run and 9 hits in 19.2 innings (0.41 ERA) with 28 K's and 3 walks.

His WHIP is 0.61.
So how long does he have to keep this up until he gets the call up to AA?

Probably won't happen until late in the season. He's still 19 and in his first real pro season.

But if he keeps this up.....there is a good chance he gets a call next season with his current trajectory.

What is the playoff format this year?
  • No. 1 seed – Best record in National League/American League, gets first-round bye
  • No. 2 seed – Second-best record by division winner, receives first-round bye
  • No. 3 seed – Division winner with third-best record, faces No. 6 seed
  • No. 4 seed – Wild Card team with best record, hosts No. 5 seed
  • No. 5 seed – Wild Card team with second-best record, faces No. 4 seed
  • No. 6 seed – Third Wild Card team, faces No. 3 seed

So the Jays likely will play the Rays.

Getting very hard to justify trading Kirk. He's incredibly slow but at least he isn't disappointing like Jansen. That guy can't catch a break.

Probably til the draft.
