time was never on his side. he has some talent but he was too old not to hit quickly...and imo has been passed by a number of other younger marlies, most notably Rubins and now probably Kral.

yep he was noticeably good in the 1 game he played. dynamic skating and skill.

He can't say he didn't have a chance.

I feel like he is more of a placeholder for Nylander while we try some different looks for him (i.e. Kerfoot + Mikheyev). I think Nylander is still going to be in that top 6.

I am surprised they are not willing to give Kase a few looks in that top 6 with Tavares, but I guess they want him to build some chemistry with Kampf first.

Still 3 more games and the Leafs are going to cut a lot of their AHL bulk after today I imagine.

I couldn't rule it out entirely. A couple of doubts I might have though would come from not envisioning Kase starting on the fourth line and with either of Spezza or Simmonds being a healthy scratch.

I think they're hoping to tease out some offense from Kampf. Also Kase is somewhat suprisingly very strong and tenacious on the puck so he's not out of place on a grind line either.

And in the meantime they're giving Ho-Sang a huge chance (which to his credit he's earning so far).

Keefer apparently was telling everyone over summer he wanted 3 scoring lines and a shutdown line .. but I don't think we have talent for 3 lines and he will end up going back to 2 lines at some point in time .. whether it is start of season or later into season is anyone's guess

It is looking very predictable at this point. And Ritchie-Matthews-Marner is the 1st line.

So it really comes down to what is the 4th line.
Spezza-Kampf-Kase and a 13th forward?

Based on what line Simmonds is on, he looks like he could be waiver fodder. He is playing with players who will be Marlies. At least Brooks is playing with Spezza and Robertson

Rielly-Dermott back together. Sandin-Holl is interesting.

Ho-Sang getting another opportunity. He's been good.
Robertson still in contention but he's running out of time. Muzzin-Liljegren back together which is a good sign for Liljegren.
