If Matthews is out for a bit, do we go:

Bunting Tavares Marner
Mikheyev Kerfoot Nylander
Engvall Kampf Kase
Ritchie Spezza Simmonds

or call up somebody else but I think Ritchie will be first call up.

Finally finished catching up on the game. Missed it so had to watch when I got home. The thread title gave me the impression we handled this one easy. We did not lol. Line 1 was beautiful. Every other line got owned by Carolina. That can't fly in the playoffs.

I checked moneypuck and NST and the fancy smancy confirms it too.

With Holl fixing himself might need to jump on the top 6 winger bandwagon like some others. Drop Kerfoot to line 3 to make us deeper overall against the top teams.

I was supposed to be at this game before the attendance restrictions occurred... would've been a great game to see live .

The guys looked good though! Glad they were able to win a tight checking game against a top team and still pot 4 goals.

Probably, but I would slot Ritchie in the top 6 so you don't mess with the bottom 6.

Get Ritchie back into a position where he will be successful, because our 4th line has finally started to get their crap together and we don't need to go back to Spezza and Simmonds being absolutely useless. Engvall brings pace, which is the one thing that line desperately needs.

Can we recall anyone if he isn't on LTIR? Believe we are capped out with 12 forwards and 7 defenseman. Not sure how emergency recall works if that would be a option.

Sorry I missed the game, when everyone on here is saying it was the best of the season, well...

Congrats Leafs, and let’s keep ‘er goin, eh.

Oh ya, the Canes GDT did not disappoint.

Refs refs refs... c'mon, bunch of muffins over there.

Yeah, they're whining a bunch. They need to realize when their team is as reckless with their sticks as they are, they are going to take quite a few penalties.

Also, always love beating that team. Their twitter account is absolute cringe. Guessing there were no witty tweets from them after the game.

This is the best Marner has ever been. Even ignoring the scoring and just looking at the pace at which he's driving the play, his confidence, along with being terrific defensively, it's just incredible to see. He's playing like a top 5 player rn and there's no reason, he can't continue this

Hopefully AM was held out due to the timing & caution. Great to see him resume his scoring pace.

I think it’s fair to say that there was some imbalance with the officiating, but I honestly find it goes one way or another & we’re lucky as fans to get a well reffed game.

Love your avatar btw, @saltming . One of my favourites on HF as it shows just how tough he was. Amazing player.

Cheers
Thanks papa. I Wat he'd the game that happened to salming and couldn't believe when he came back out to finish the game without missing a beat.

I was happy that the refs let it go both ways. Seemed more like playoff officiating to me. If they called only our side I would have been a bit more upset lol

Good game. Petr was better than Fredder and Matthews and Marner were better than the Canes

Holl wasn't better than anybody.

Happy with that win in a tough battle.

Playoff style game tonight, thought we played well at times, didn't take care of the puck tonight though. Too many turnovers and sloppy play when we had the puck on our stick. Muzzin would help in a game like that slow down the play along the boards.

Anyways, doesn't look like we can't hang around with the big boys, that's a good Carolina hockey team, just need to be more consistent against teams like that, maybe add another piece at the deadline to help with that.

We are the big boys

Great win against a very good Hurricanes team.

Great pushback. You could tell Andersen really wanted this one and the boys kept coming back.

Nice to see Mitch playing well and engaged. I still want to see who shows up in the plays though, starting with Mitch.

…… nice seeing him having fun playing again, and not squeezing his stick so hard.

On to the next one!

Marner looking possessed out there now.

Hoping Matthews is ok! It is scary to see any type of head shots like that.

The Avalanche game was pretty awesome, there have been a few others too so I'd say it was one of the best games and leave it at that.

It's true, he is such a treat to watch right now!

We should’ve traded Marner when we had the chance

As always, that depends on what the return would have been.

Great game by the top line obviously.

Nylander had some good looks and briefly a goal, too bad since he gets down on himself pretty quickly and you can see he doesn't have a lot of confidence right now.

Mrazek was ok, some nice saves but also gave up the bad goal to cough up the lead.

Defense was solid while under heavy pressure all night. Holl-Sandin wasn't very good after couple very strong games and looks bad on the 3rd goal but it's really more bad luck than anything with that weird bounce leading to some chaos.

Concerns from the game:
1. Matthews' health obviously
2. Watching Tavares get absolutely caved in by Staal. All night Staal just dominated him head to head starting with throwing him aside like a rag doll to steal the puck leading to the first goal.
