I've noticed a couple of games where both of the teams' jersey colors on ice are the same, but with slightly different order or style, or just inverted.

Russia, Czechia, Belarus and Denmark games have teams in red and white and as a spectator I often struggled seeing who is who in speed as the colors really blended together.

Anyone else is struggling with this? I really wish IIHF would force teams to have an alternate jersey with more than just inverted colors, but rather a third color instead.

I struggle playing in my league when colors blend. Let alone watching this...

You have a point. The players probably don't have much of a problem with it at ice level, but from a viewer's standpoint, it can look rather confusing when things are happening fast. And I agree with you the away jersey should look different than the home jersey in more than just inverted colours. At least for conflicting teams like this with exactly the same colours and patterns.

I don't even get why Belarus has white in their jerseys, they should just go with red and green. Russia can use more blue, so can the Czechs, etc. Now when you mention this, it's a baffling number of hockey teams using especially red and white at top national level. Then comes blue.

Or just do like Canada and use black. Black is always cool looking and a good mix with red.

Looks confusing as hell. Should not happen, especially never at a WC.

edit: Sometimes (rarely!) this happens in soccer as well. I have seen instances where too many people complained and one team had to change their jerseys at halftime.

Yeah I hope this post gets to IIHF and they do better going forward.

Don't worry, Nike will release a new batch of jerseys for each team in time for the 2022 Olympics. Based on their track record, they will be hideous and make these look like fine art by comparison.

I can't imagine that the IIHF has too much control over jersey designs. Anybody who approved this round of monstrosities needs his/ her/ its head examined.

Canada is the only red/white country aside from Switzerland, yet we choose black lol.

Could you have picked a blurrier picture?
But yeah that looks terrible - so many teams use red and white as pointed out above

Direct quote from IIHF rulebook, rule 40

iv. If, in the opinion of the referee, the uniform colours of the competing teams are so similar that there is the possibility of misidentifying players, it is the responsibility of the home team to change its jerseys.

v. The dominant colour of the uniform must cover approximately 80 % of the jersey and socks, excluding names and numbers.
