with the amount of value we seem to pull from 6th rounders this has some major "revisit in 5yrs" potential. happy to have anything in return

f*** why couldn't we get something else back
I'm confused. We basically traded UFA rights for a 6th. We weren't qualifying Blackwood, and I don't think SJ will be either (or they shouldn't be).

UFA rights for a 6th seems pretty good?

(ah - if you wanted Zetterlund...yeah)

he's an RFA, isn't he? i'm assuming they'll qualify and use, so i figured maybe we'd get more. but injuries and his QO make it understandable

AHL depth would've been cool in addition to the 6th, i mean god damn we gave em a nice mukhamadullin

Devils weren’t going to qualify Blackwood so getting anything back was good.

A 6th round pick is worth so little that this is a decent enough gamble by SJ to see if they can reset Blackwood’s career.

Blackwood is an RFA. Don't think many teams were looking to take on what would be his next contract.
Imo, Devils were not likely to qualify him which would have made him a UFA.
