One or two times a year, based off nothing but vibes and my gut, i arbitrarily pick a game that i determine to be an indicator of how the rest of the season is gonna go. Today is one of those games.

If the Devils snooze their way to a loss in the third, it’s time to start pulling up draft reports (obv we’re not talking about lottery picks here). If they dominate the third but fall short, that’s a valiant effort and ill be cautiously optimistic the rest of the way.

But if the Devils can pull off a win this afternoon, we have something special going.

Meh, not really. They really play to their competition this year. That being said, they probably deserved way better in this game than they have, the powerplay is f***ing them over the last couple of games

This is quite the ridiculous way to view a mid season afternoon game for a team at the top of their division playing a bottom feeder.

Honestly, the biggest reason to stay away from Stolarz was because he's an injury case. He can't stay on the ice too long without getting hurt.

I know some are opposed to moving Dougie but it's 100% for the best. His money is needed wayyyyyyyy more up front than paying the guy 9 mil to barely contribute outside the PP

Look stat lady that’s a little hypocritical for you… my point wasn’t about points. It was winning games. Winning percentage is far more important there and when we only had one OTL people kept sharing how things were fine despite our GP lead because the win% was top 6 in the league. It isn’t anymore.

That’s points percentage not win percentage. 19/32 is .59

OK, but everyone has 2-3 OTL's for the most part. They are still top-10 in "winning percentage" and they are 6th in regulation points percentage. That's why no one cares about the difference because the difference is negligible.

This core is definitely kind of strange offensively. Feels like we’ve seen too many times over the last few years where they can’t capitalize on chances. But they have been in the top third of the league in goals scored consistently as well.

starting to wonder if they are more in the mold of a Carolina.

Yes

Markstrom worries me a ton.

He can never be on the right side of a game where we need him to be the difference maker. Look, he made all those saves in the 5-1 win over the Rangers and his one shutout came in a 6-0 game where he faced 20 shots.

That's what worries me. The only two games he's been a significant difference maker was the first game of the year in Prague and the first game against the Panthers he played last month.

He's had some other games where he's been good, but he had plenty of support.

We objectively have one of the better offenses in the league, even w an ice cold offense right now and an ice cold Timo and too many shutouts all year

There’s room for improvement, but most teams outside of Edmonton would trade our offense for theirs
