I think it must be a tremendous experience for the Monarchs and others that are the
Black Aces, to be around these Cup runs. Consider what it must be like for them; to be able to train with and learn what the culture is like to be a pro and more than that, see what it takes to be a champion. Then to train like a pro and see the level of practice and the games.

Then consider if you were a young player on a non playoff team. You end your season and you are on your own. You don't get to see your NHL team compete in the playoffs, or train with them. You probably go back to your hometown and take a few weeks off.
Go fishing, play golf, etc.

A HUGE difference. By getting exposed to what the Black Aces are, builds hunger,
increases knowledge and builds a camaraderie with your teammates. And makes you train harder and want to be a champion.

This is the boxscore from last night in Chicago. 10 LA King scratches. They brought all these players to Chicago? That's crazy. Names that stand out, that makes you think the Kings think are on the cusp of making it: Bodnarchuk, McNabb, Vey and Andreoff.

LOS ANGELES KINGS SCRATCHES:

Robyn Regehr
Colin Fraser
Jeff Schultz
Andrew Bodnarchuk
Brayden McNabb
Linden Vey
Jean-Francois Berube
Jordan Nolan
Andy Andreoff
.
Who are the other Black Aces here now?
I think: Derek Forbort, Kevin Gravel, Colin Miller, Nick Shore, Jordan Weal, Nic Dowd, Michael Mersch, and Scott Sabourin.
Anyone have the list?

No. Scratch just means they are on the roster but not dressed. I doubt more Berube, Regehr and 1 other forward and d came along to Chicago.

Thanks, Holden.

I read Wayne Gretzky's book years ago and recall a part in which he said that after they lost to the Islanders, they walked by their dressing room and saw them all banged up and getting treatments for injuries...and he said that he and the other young Oilers saw the level of sacrifice the Islanders paid. It gave them hunger to want to achieve winning a Cup and knew that it would take a heavier price to pay.

Young players are impressionable and for the Kings youth to be around this culture
for an entire month now, must really give them an education...and not just individually, but as a group.

Random question, but why wouldn't the Kings bring the Aces on the road?

The flight is free (I assume they charter the whole plane anyway) and they're paying for a hotel in LA or visiting destination anyway. I can't imagine it being an issue of cost. Just cause the extra bodies get in the way perhaps?
