I think unless it's a specific fan event, players dont owe you their time or attention. So if you get snubbed for an autograph or something then it doesn't necessarily make the player a jerk.

Lots of posts in here about waiting at practice or the like for players and them not giving you a sig...don't you have any sense of perspective? Maybe the player doesn't want to be singing autographs all the time. If it's for your child then...what the hell are you doing assuming you'll get one just because you're at practice or waiting after hours when the game is over in hopes the players walk by?

I once saw PK Subban across the street while I was at work. I dropped everything I was doing and ran across the street. He was on the phone with his dad (it was Father's Day), I said "Hey PK! Sorry man really quick just wanted to shake your hand and say you're one of my favorite players". He had a really big sigh and said "Sorry DAD one second". He was kind of a jerk about it but I also was invading his space and private time. I wish the interaction went better of course but maybe the guy has a hundred of these types of interactions a month and was just fed up with it that day? I don't know. I wouldn't say he was a jerk for it, just that I wish it was a cooler meeting.

The next year I went to "Keith Relief" in Chicago and there were a bunch of Hawks there. Said hi to a few of them and shook their hands. It was pretty cool. But that was also a thing that they agreed to go to specifically to be interacting with fans. We're not entitled to anything and I think fans forget that

My one observation about meeting players away from the Arena, with their families or just out and about doing normal stuff. Some fans believe they have all the rights in the world to get autographs or play 20 questions with said player. I remember the video of McDavid in Edmonton load food and beer into his car and fans just being all over him. Not all players handle that the same way. Some players want to be able to go about in public and be normal. They owe fans nothing away from the game and on their private time

depending on which reports you like to believe he allegedly made life extremely difficult for two reporters

drove alfredsson away from the team (sens really only have 1 player at that level so yeah) and he did this both as a player and a franchise employee

publicly asked for a liver donation, only to threaten moving the team at the outdoor game a short while later

the fact that any semi important to important player that left ottawa during his tenure was painted as a full on villain

his between two ferns moment to try and control the narrative

him attacking the media for questioning the mark stone trade

theres a good amount more, he was definitely cheap but he was also an ass

An old friend of mine saw him at a bar once and seriously considered sucker punching him. Thankfully he didn't because that's a crime, but the devil on his shoulder was pushing him to do it so bad.

32 year-old Ron Tugnutt who finished 29th out of 40 (among qualifiers) in the league in 1999-2000 in save percentage and who had never won a playoff series in his career to that point including starting and losing two games of a four-game sweep vs. the Sabres the year before? You'll never get over it?

My Best-Carey
I wouldn’t expect you to understand heart and soul. Tugnutt was a gamer. Barrasso was a has-been.

How many goals should Tugger have scored against Hasek to extend that Sabres series?

Auston Matthews lead a drunken group of thugs through Scottsdale, AZ where they traumatized and sexually harassed a black woman.

That's pretty much the definition of a jerk.
unless you have reason to think it was racially motivated there's really no reason to include that detail

I believe this was proven false already in this thread. Something like 4 games left in the season and the coach knew that Modano was close to that milestone and sat him intentionally
Why not play better and not give the coach an opportunity to scratch you? Modano signed with contenders and was an offensive black hole on the ice much of the time, yet felt entitled to play every night including back-to-backs with travel. That's on him really.

Uh, that doesn't make Tom Barrasso a jerk.

Intentionally blocking people from getting where they need to go in order to manipulate them into doing what you want is impolite.

That post is confusing an autograph request with an autograph demand. It is a clear line.
ok, Tom Barrasso. you freakin jerk

I have a friend who bumped into Jordan Binnington 3 or 4 years ago at the Dallas Fort Worth airport when he was passing through. It was right after the Blues won the cup. He was in the same lineup as him for coffee and said Jordan comes across as a real life arrogant douche just like he does on the ice.

Jacob Trouba is a crazy problem. The issue with him is his ego and feels he's entitled. Like he's not going to demand royalty. I have stories about him I can't say on these boards.

Evander Kane is no secret.

One of my best friends played in the NHL and has told me a shit ton of crazy stories about many players. But according to one of his old teammates, Brendan Shanahan was the biggest prick.
Why even bother posting this in this thread?

Hey guys, I know some shit and I know this thread is about spilling the beans on guys being pricks, but I won’t do that because of reasons.

It’s the internet. Nobody is gonna dox you and hunt you down because Jacob Trouba didn’t tip at Browns in downtown Winnipeg.

But please, keep your secrets

Well Shanahan did steal his teammate's wife for starters.

I would bring up Doug Gilmour as well but people can Google the reason St. Louis traded him themselves.
