I think Stanley Cups get overrated a bit in terms of their impact on how individual players are perceived.
I would never argue with a straight face that Patrick Kane > Alexander Ovechkin even though both are Hall of Fame talents as Wingers because 3 Cups > 1. It would serve me as a Blackhawk fan to argue that, but I can't in good faith do it.
Ask yourself, if what I said makes sense to you, but you still think Crosby > McDavid because "Cups, end of story", why is that? Hockey is a TEAM sport, you gotta have multiple lines of scoring with good depth, good defensemen and good goaltending. Neither Crosby nor McDavid can win on their own, even Gretzky can't win on his own. It takes a team to win.
