Team Sweden 3, quite easily beaten by Canada Team 7 or something.

Looking back Sweden defense used to be epic with like the poll here considering best in the world but how about now? Hedman is the obvious number 1 guy in the world but guys like Erik Karlsson and Rasmus Dahlin are absolutely terrible... Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Klingberg are very good defenders and guys like Brodin, Lindholm, Ekholm are solid but they are not impact guys that most other top countries wouldn't have either. I think the hype has come down a lot.
 
I voted for Sweden but I think a greater amount of Canadian defenseman (Makar, Theodore, Doughty, Ekblad) are having elite seasons, whereas outside of Hedman and maybe Brodin the main stars for tre kronor, notably Dahlin and Karlsson, have regressed

Based on what is Dahlin terrible? He is very good offensivly. With age he will get more mature and experianed and be better in his own zon. You forgot Klefbom and Rasmus Andersson.

Not as good as Canada's but still pretty good. Canada has every nation beat with depth though (if there is an injury or two).

US vs Canada would be much closer.

lol "pretty good". its fantastic actually. for sure 3rd best d-squad in the world, better than any NHL team. Only team usa and team canada have better d-squad, and not by much.

yea the defence has fell off for us quiet a bit just because of Karlsson just not being anywhere close to that level any longer. I would vote canada today
 
I would say Hedman is very clearly the best d-man between the two countries and the best d-man playing right now period. Besides him I think Canada has the edge.
