Georgiev and TDA can bring a huge return and these are two positions where we are loaded and can afford to deal if we get the forwards that we need in return. These two guys will bring the highest ransom and since I feel confident that we have the players ready to replace them lets move them for young wingers or high draft picks. I love TDA but can we afford to keep him with the cap problems? I am afraid we will lose him for nothing and this guy is exceptional. Too good to let go . A corner piece.

Negative - our trading chips are Kreider, Strome, and potentially ADA...

You don't trade Georgiev now before Shesterkin has been tested at the NHL level - and before Georgiev has had the chance to prove he's capable of handling the workload of a #1 goaltender, and performing solidly while doing so.... If you think he has trade value now - what do you think his trade value would be if/when other teams view him as a #1 goaltender as opposed to an inexperienced back-up (currently)?

I made a more detailed post in the speculation thread - Rangers would be insane to trade Georgiev now... Poor asset management... They need to test & explore both Georgiev and Shesterkin sufficiently at the NHL level - then retain the better of the two...

The problem with trading goalies is they tend to not bring back nearly as much as their talent might indicate.

The exception to this rule is when a good team is beset with a long term injury to a starter. If the afflicted team does not decide to hold or fold, there is often a panic overpayment for a starter.

Kreider is probably our best chip because not only is there still some hype to him around the league, but he also has been a fairly consistent playoff performer, so he's a greet swap at the deadline.

It would probably be best to hold ADA until the draft as well as to see what his demands are. If he's not looking for albatross money, he might be a good keep since his attitude has changed a lot. I don't see him as a good flip at the deadline to a contender because his post season is still a question mark.

That's not a knock on him personally, but a contender is more likely to roll the dice on Kreider since even in his better season , he pulls his head out of his more often in the post season.

Strome could get us a pair of seconds maybe a super high first.

A lot will be conditional on where the Rangers are in the standings. I think if they feel they can push for a playoff spot they will hold on to players that they control and not move someone like Strome or if they do bring back a younger player who can immediately go into the lineup for him. Kreider I think will be moved regardless. The Rangers like Kreider even so. He works with their kids and prospects, he's been part of the welcome wagon for Russian prospects--the Ben Prentiss thing is pretty much through him. Still--he's not controllable past this year and there are limitations of what we can do for him.

I agree with your take on the goalies. IMO both should become NHL starters. Shesterkin has a fabulous record as a prospect......but keeping in mind he was usually the second goalie with his SKA St. Petersburg team which often in the playoffs went with their most experienced goaltender......and that wasn't him. In Hartford this year he is the clear No. 1. A lot of people here seem to think that if Alex can do something that Igor can do it better. Alex has made great strides since he signed with the Rangers. IMO he should at least be splitting the games with Henrik. To me he's been the better goalie since at least the second half of last season. He steals games quite often---that is the mark of a great goalie. I'd be very reluctant to move him. The return would have to be big--especially if you move him within your own division/conference.

As for Tony his offensive game has blossomed and he's better defensively though that remains the area he needs to work on most. I do think that when Nils Lundkvist is ready to compete for an NHL job Tony becomes the odd man out. That might not be until 21-22.
