Hey Everyone,

Quick question / market research. Your insight is greatly appreciated.

What is the #1 and/or #2 independent sports blog/site in LA? In other words, what are the most popular non-official site(s) that are not part of a national conglomerate? Sites owned by SB Nation or similar don't count and they must only cover the LA teams.

Thanks in advance for your insight. Have a great weekend everyone!

Best,

Mayor's Manor was voted Best Sports Blog in LA (beat Lakers and Kings top blogs)... and won Yahoo Sports Best Hockey Blog.

I'd say we have our answer. :)

NO other blog has Monarchs coverage. Plus MM has been miles ahead of the AHL West news, even for teams that aren't the Kings plans. Top Prospects list is going on too, which is done twice a year with input from people inside the Kings org.

I may be biased, but MM does an excellent job.

Should I take it to the bank?

Justin Williams, anyone?

Jeez it's like you work for this site or something....

I like Mayors Manor quite a bit. Great analysis, especially on radio interviews (which we don't get other places). Excellent prospect coverage. It fills a void and what it does, it does very well. I feel, rightly or wrongly, that the Mayor has scaled back somewhat, so it is not as much of a go-to site for me as it was a couple of years ago, but it is still a favorite site for me for Kings material.

I Like the Mayor's Manor for prospect info, and interviews. Very good work with the Kings development process.

I don't follow the Mayor's for trade stuff, or Kings roster related news.

Then you totally missed out until Bob McKenzie mentioning John for breaking the McNabb trade when he talked about it on TSN!

John does a great job, and has Andy Tonge covering the Monarchs daily, but I take exception to the statement that "NO other blog has Monarchs coverage."

Frozen Royalty has had excellent profiles/interviews of Monarchs players (sometimes with audio!), along with commentary from Rob Blake and other members of the development staff. I also look forward to Frozen Royalty's video interviews with Monarchs players during camps.

Perhaps CNS was referring to game coverage.

A defining strength of Frozen Royalty is its storytelling, an ability to paint a picture quickly, thoroughly, and engagingly, and let the personalities shine through. Gann also produces several long articles a week. In fact I see he just posted 2 on the Mike Richards story in the last hour.

With LAKingsInsider (official), Mayors Manor, Jewels From the Crown (SBN) and Frozen Royalty, we are spoiled. Throw in a little humor with the Royal Half, and we're good!

LAKingsInsider - Best for roster news
Frozen Royalty - Best for locker room, behind the scenes type stuff
Mayor's Manor - Best for radio stuff, AHL game reviews, management news
The Royal Half - Best for All around fun and that great ATKM podcast.
Jewels From The Crown - Best for speculative ponderings of the Kings.
HFBoards Kings - Nothing, nothing at all. Just a lot of us complaining fans :)

Gann, you do know that was Andy Tonge's post that you just quoted, right?

That last one is putting it mildly.
