Best hockey players in NHL (modern era) never to be selected to an All Star game?

So I was wondering which hockey players do you think are among the greatest
ever to play the game but never be selected to an All-Star game? I'm mainly thinking
about the modern era, say early 90s to present.

Seeing how many good players that probably deserved to get a nod for the All Star
game made me think of this question. For example, I thought James Van Riemsdyk could have easily gotten the nod with his 19 goals (only 7 players at the time the All Stars were named had more goals than him), and his 40 points (only 13 players had more points than him), yet he never got selected??

And guys who are big names but not necessarily having great seasons got the call like Kopitar and Bergeron who were ranked 46th and 49th. So I bet, many good players in hockey never make the all star team even though they were perennial 20+ goals scorers. Who are some of the best?

Joe Pavelski and Jamie Benn.

Benn was in 2012, ironically him and Sequin really ended up chatting a lot during the draft since both of them were picked near the end and had to wait a while

Are you talking the glorified pond hockey popularity contest the fans vote on? Or the post-season 1st and 2nd team all-stars?

The glorified pond hockey popularity contest. Yeah, I don't really care for it,
but I still like to see good players who deserve to be named to the All Star team
instead of players who just have the big name but aren't the best right now.

Opps, totally forgot about that year.

Edit: damn I thought Backstrom made it one year too.

Was about to come and post Saku Koivu. But checked and he actually played in the -98 All-Star game.

Nickla Backstrom is a good one. Although, he would have been in without a doubt in his 101 point season. But the Olympics were that year and no All-Star game was played.

McDonagh hasn't been selected yet. To be fair though, this is really the first ASG since his emergence as a top defenseman.

This year will be Patrice Bergeron's first all Star game appearance

Oh yeah, it was stated in the op, my bad

Wow it's his first? No wonder. I think this was more of a courtesy call for all the years of being one of the top defensive forwards in the game. In terms of score sheet, he's not having an "all-star" like season but I guess he was due and he deserves at least one I guess.

Price was in one, remember he was goofing around in the skills shootout, facing backwards and all that? At least i think that was Price

But he wasn't good enough to be an all star that time so it doesn't matter.
