Funny thing is Lavi has had a similar career to Torts.
2 yrs Isles
4 yrs Carolina, wins Cup after an old team literally got to rest for a season, fired 5th year
4 yrs Philly, 2008 was example of underachieving team (61 points in 57 games under him) that got hot at the right time
6 yrs Nash, probably his best coaching stint
3 yrs Wash
2nd year in NYR, good bet to get fired if they don't turn it around.

But his teams are more enjoyable to watch and he has lead 3 teams to the cup finals and 1 confernce finals other than that .... Torts has only one conference final other than the cup win season so 2 total conference finals appearances.

Can we say one is markedly better by results? Or are you ready to throw management under the bus by saying it's the players they had that make the difference.

Different styles. Lavi works best with veteran teams.

Funny enough, I think Torts is better in rebuilding situations where he doesn't have to deal with veterans with entrenched ways. Only veteran team was NYR (well, one season in Vancouver) which was a "reload."

I mean, if you ignore that he's been better and more successful and has done it in the Cap era unlike Tortorella, sure, that could be possible. Unlike Tortorella he's actually engaged with the sport and tries to evolve.
