I said worst value. He is still producing and it's not too long, but he has a massive caphit. Lindholm, Chris CHan, etc. have contracts that will age worse, thus being worse overall. But in immediate value, Stamkos has the worst imho.
Stamkos's contract is only 4 years, I think that it's too light to be the worst contract. Lindholm's is 7 years, for example. And yeah, Lindholm has been better this year, but his team is also better.

It's great right now but I think his production is about to fall off a cliff.

He scored 44 goals in 63 AHL games last year, he was about goal per game in the preseason. Now he has 3 goals in the last two games since he has been promoted to the first line.

I don't think he is going to hit 40 but I definitely see him in the 28-32 range by end of season. He has also hit a lot of posts this year too.

I am excited to see what he does with the top line look.

What do you mean, "I said worst value"? Years have value. Teams have paid a first round pick to get rid of 1 year of 6mil AAV before.

"Immediate value"? You cannot only consider immediate value. By that logic, draft picks would be worth nothing at all.

And if we define immediate value by how much it will cost to buy the contract out right at this moment, then Lindholm's would cost far more.

Adam Gaudette - 775k (2-way deal)
He has 11 goals already
Wow great to see, other than being slightly fascistic, Gaudette was likeable being drafted in the 5th round an all. Some Canucks fans I remember had a cult like following of him, saying he would produce like Kyle Connor or Brock Boeser. Glad to see hes doing well in Ottawa

Chris Chan is in the NHL? What a world we live in

But everyone knew that Zadrorov contract was shit the moment it was signed

Who do you think were the best overall UFA signings and the best value UFA signings and vice versa?

For overall, I'd give it to Sean Monahan easily. He's been a revelation.

Kiefer Sherwood is the best value contract no competition. $1.5mill for 2 seasons as a forechecking 5on5 possession demon? Steal.

Worst UFA contract value wise would go to Stamkos. He's still producing sure, but not nearly enough for his contract. Worst overall, I'd probably give to Chris Chandler Stephenson. That contract is going to age ugly.
Not sure Sherwood is even the best UFA signing by the Canucks. I think that would be Lankinen.

Stefan Noesen is on pace for like 35 goals and he's making under 3M, can't get better value that day and he's one of the reason the Devils powerplay is beyond elite and #1 in the league

Tyler Toffoli and Alex Wennberg have been awesome for the Sharks. Probably not in surplus of their contract value, but relative to most big ticket contracts handed out on UFA day one, I think they're pretty darn good.

Loved Toffoli last year as a Devil, I think him being back where his career started in Cali + his wife being home is helping him a ton. Also you can tell he's cherishing his role just mentoring the Sharks youth nightly.

It's great right now but I think his production is about to fall off a cliff.

He's traditionally been a great producer outside the NHL, but a huge defensive liability at the NHL level.

IDK what he did this off-season, but his defence is now average (huge improvement) and he's been able to showcase his offense in a bigger role as a result. You could be right, but I also wouldnt be surprised if it continued for at least a little while.

Not considering "immediate value" doesn't exactly make that contract look better.

Dallas has some strong contenders

Best - Duchene (1 x $3). Best player this season for Dallas and over a ppg

Worst - Dumba (2 x $3.75). Worst defenseman on the team, already being scratched for AHL callups. Guy is cooked / absolute trash - makes the fan base miss Ryan Suter (who he replaced with that final year buyout)

It'll likely be more like 1 goal every 3 games from here on. He's been promoted to the top line with Stutzle, so as long as that continues, Stutzle can find him quite a bit. He's also on the second PP with Giroux and Chabot, so he'll get his goals.

If he keeps shooting 30+% that'll be easy.

That tip goal against San Jose the other night was high end skill but was also a great showcase of how lucky he is getting.

I'd be shocked if Gaudette gets to 30 goals even with this hot start.

Anothny Mantha (2 year, 3.5m) signing in Calgary certainly didn't work out. Goal was to feed him top 6 minutes and see if he can get us a decent pick at the deadline.

His final stats for the season are 4g, 7pt in 13 games.
