for fun...

o.k. I know this won't happen (during their primes) but as a hockey fan I'd love to see these three on the same team. The best two Canadian forwards (that also have insane chemistry) and Marchand fits perfectly.

So, what would it take... from Boston, from Pittsburgh, or from a third team to put them together.

Malkin, Letang and another piece...?
Any six players, prospects or picks from Boston...?

I just would love to be able to watch these guys for 82 games a year.

Or the Penguins could just sign Marchand next summer if he's a free agent and they'll have Marchand-Crosby-Hornqvist, which is a-okay in my eyes. I'd love to trade for Marchand though, but I can't imagine that would happen like ever. Even if Marchand pushes the Bruins to trade him as a pending UFA, I can't imagine the B's will trade Marchand to Pittsburgh under any circumstances.

As nice as that would be, please list Pittsburgh's defenseman if they trade Letang.

That's no fun. I know it's unrealistic in every single way but...

How about Krejci, Pastrnak, Spooner, Vatrano, MacAvoy, Senyshyn, and whoever else you want.

Boston and Pittsburgh could expose them in the expansion draft and we could all become Vegas fans.

The Pens are adding to Malkin & Letang to get Bergeron & Marchand?

Also, where are the Pens supposed to slot six players into the already full line-up in return for Crosby? If the Pens were ever to trade Sid it wouldn't be in a quantity deal.

Pretty much this. I worry about what Marchand will get though. He's 28. A 7yr contract would put him to 35 which isn't terrible. I worry about price though. I think the B's will pay to keep him. It would basically have to be Marchand specifically choosing a non-B's team regardless of what Boston offers him.

Fun to think about though.

and that's all it's meant to be. Those three on a line would be worth the price of admission. You see what they do in a best n best tournament - imagine them playing day to day in the NHL.

I know Crosby and Bergeron are untouchable... but

what's the least either team would take to make it work?

Hall returned Larrson, you're saying 1 year of Marchand = Letang?

Wait... what?

I am not following. From what team's perspective is this from?

Is it Bruins going for Crosby? I think Bergeron + Marchand going to Pittsburgh would be easier to make it happen.

Pittsburgh could acquire them far easier, than vice versa.
Not so sure about that, simply because...

I know Crosby and Bergeron are untouchable...

Both guys aren't going anywhere...in reality. I know OP was just posting this for fun, and he's right, that would be a line that would be really fun to watch 82 games a year.

They're both equally not happening. Can't imagine a package from Pittsburgh that would make me give away Bergeron AND Marchand.

This year's SC winner defensive core minus Letang. You know the one that played with him suspended and didn't miss a beat.

They won ONE game without him and it was in OT. Do you think they win the Cup without him? Take into account the fact that he either scored or assisted on every game winning goal in the SCF.

Letang is the player the Pens can least afford to lose currently. And yes, that arguably includes Crosby.

It really would be. Bergeron and Crosby have always played great together when given the chance and Marchand fits that line like Ference's glove. It's only been two games but in a best on best tournament - they're dominant nearly every time they're out on the ice. They've probably generated over 40 shots in those two games, including 15 excellent chances. Imagine what they'd do against regular NHL competition.

Teams aside - that'd be some fun hockey to watch.

Of course it would never happen (especially with Pittsburgh coming off a Cup win) but was trying to think of some mythical proposals.

Not worth it to have that first line if it means we give up Malkin, Letang, and another piece. Nothing fun about that.

This whole rash of Bergeron-Marchand to Pittsburgh proposals remind me of the Iginla to Pittsburgh craze after the 2010 olympics. Fun times were had by all, except Iginla who didn't get to play with Crosby at all in his short time with the Pens
